This is a post that I never wanted to make.
I am closing Summer Creek Catering, my obsession, my baby, my everything for the past almost 7 years. 7 years of my life that I dedicated every breath, every thought to my clients and how I could make their best days even better!
I started so small but with the unflinching support of my husband Bill, I grew steadily. I grew to a point where I had to hire staff and a manager and buy all sorts of serve ware and a Sprinter Van. I made so many friends, met so many great business people and only burned one or two bridges! I have seen the way the industry works and I cannot tell you how hard it is to keep your energy and passion for serving at a sustainable level.
I told myself that I wasn't going to get wordy or emotional but both of those words describe me in everything! If you know me, you know!
I have never worked so hard in all of my combined years as I have the past seven! But, it was my great honor to be included in your very best of days, your wedding celebrations and your gatherings that were filled with love. I felt it. There is so much love to be shared! You loved me and you loved my food and that was my greatest reward! I feel as though I served you well and I don't mean handed you a plate of food.
My food has evolved from a smoker trailer pouring out smoke throughout our neighborhood as I tore apart a greasy delicious pork butt, to an elegantly plated dinner at a luxury estate venue commanding thousands of dollars per night!
So many people have helped me and supported me. I love my staff! They were there for me reliably, even when I was falling asleep standing up in front of the wall ovens and couldn't string together a decent sentence. They left the event to go buy a spoon or a bag of ice for me because I ALWAYS FORGOT SOMETHING! They quickly learned to never put the crackers in a straight row on a charcuterie board. They tried to save my pinky tip when I cut it off just a few weeks ago! For all of this and so much more I am eternally grateful! My pinky didn't make back on but thats ok! Thank you for your dedication and your love for me and my business. Once again, I felt it.
So as I move forward, I look back at my years with Summer Creek and I cannot believe what Ive done. If you believe in yourself you really can do anything. Please remember that when you feel lost or unsure of yourself. Women are so much stronger than we look!
I have two more public caterings that I will be giving my all to!
If you want to catch the last food by Summer creek please grab tickets to BOTH events! Country Creek Produce Farm will appropriately be the host for my last two events. Held in the flower gardens, this is a supremely lovely and lush event that culminates after a gorgeous sunset golden hour filled with flowers and the prettiest food you will ever love! You will definitely want to join me there because this will be your last chance to eat and chat with me! Plus, the 24th is my birthday! Please buy tickets and show Country Creek Produce Farm how much we all appreciate their small business but big work they do in our community!
