With winter coming and our goal of not buying/using any hay for the majority of the animals we fenced in this back section of the property. This area is roughly 12 acres, heavily wooded, and lots of brush. We now have 90% if the property fenced. The last bit is more fencing than grazing area so not worth the expense at this point but will be coming in the future. 18 available pastures now. We are actively grazing 4 at the moment. General/breeding sheep, little sheep (not breeding this year), rams not breeding, and horses. This back section was rough to do as it is remote, no way to drive supplies and had to walk everything in and deal with hills and valleys with about a 60ft elevation difference. This map was made using Google Earth Pro and give perimeter measurements (estimate for fencing needs) and acreage. We have common names for each pasture so we are all on the same page when talking where animals are or where they are moving to. This brings our grand total of 15 miles of fence installed (some has been replaced several times due to buying cheap, or inappropriate fence for the type of livestock).

This was found in one of our sheep pastures today. This could very easily killed a sheep, goat, cow, or horse. Until we had livestock I didn't realize how bad these things are. NEVER let balloons go on purpose. You may be "remembering" someone who passed on but you could be destroying someone's pet, killing livestock, ot native animals. Releasing balloons is nothing more then littering. I would rather just get rid of these things all together. The lanterns are equally as bad, and have the possibility of starting fires. Please stop these practices.

Pumpkinpoloza 2021 under way. Baked pumpkins will be pureed and frozen for later use. Seeds cleaned, baked, and covered with ranch dressing. The leftovers, fed to animals. All this was destined to be waste/rot. A few hours of time and we have about a month or more of food for animals and people.

Animals are gokng to eat well for a while. Gotta love free gleaning for animal feed.

Well we took down some trees. Last spring a large tree on the next property came down. Well it finally started to get too close to power line. So we had the line dropped and took down 5 trees that are along the line. Now clean up. On a positive some of these were nice and straight and will make good lumber for the sawmill

Wee.was out working with her horses and I was moving equipment when I saw at least 3 bats out for dinner. While I would have rather seen 50+ 3 is definitely better than none. We are assuming these are brown bats. Always welcome here on the farm.
