FALL/WINTER GARDEN & YARD TOOL STORAGE PREP

Our established knife and scissor hand-sharpening service is expanding to include selected garden and yard tools.

Put your manual garden tools away clean, sharp and protected for winter.

TOOLS ACCEPTED

• Hand pruners and garden snips
• Loppers
• Manual grass and hedge shears
• Hoes
• Shovels and spades
• Garden edgers

Service includes hand sharpening using the tool’s existing edge, ordinary cleaning, burr removal, minor pivot adjustment when needed, pivot lubrication and light protective oiling for winter storage.

All sharpening is performed by hand using files, stones and diamond hones. No powered grinders are used.

Beginning in November, basic conditioning for sound wooden handles will also be available, starting at $8 after inspection. Handle repair, restoration and replacement are not included.

DROP-OFF AND PICKUP

All garden-tool work is completed off-site.

Small, reasonably clean hand tools may be dropped off and picked up at our farmers-market booth. Long-handled tools require advance arrangements.

During indoor winter markets, long-handled tools will be exchanged at an arranged vehicle location and should not be carried into the market.

The service is limited to selected manual, non-serrated tools. We do not accept powered equipment, pruning saws, chainsaw chains, scythes, severely damaged tools, major rust-removal projects or structural repairs.

Posted prices include applicable sales tax. The price, return market and exact pickup date will be confirmed when each tool is accepted. Payment is due when the completed tool is returned.

Capacity is limited. Message or call/text Jim at 607-226-6892 before bringing several tools or any long-handled item.
