We had two new babies on the farm last week. Dixie, the little black one, is a girl, while I think I'm going to go with General Lee for the red boy. Looks like the naming theme is going to be Dukes of Hazard this year!

Curious George is home again. After being in our neighbor's field during the winter. We were finally able to get him home yesterday. He's due to go to the packing house on the 22nd of this month. Well, we had him in a field to keep him separate from the others and were going to add one of his buddies with him to keep him company. Yea, no. He decided he was going to go in the big field with his herd. I'll deal if he stays in our fields, but if he gets out again, he may not make it to the packing house! He is definitely living up to his name of Curious George!

And did I mention this is the same little cutie that is on the right side of the header photo?

While working in the hoop house Saturday while the skies were overcast and the temps were cooler, we found these guys. According to my Google Search, they are a subspecies of the King Snakes. This is good, cause that means fewer mice in my hoophouse.

Meet Brombeere (German for Blackberry). Brom, as we call him, was born on March 19 and was our first Spring baby this year. With that look in his eye, we can already tell he is going to be a trouble maker ;) It took us a while to find a name for him. But, Momma always hid him in the blackberry patches, so I thought it would be fitting.

I realize I have not been on our page and showing you all our wonderful produce this year. There is a reason for this. We are switching over to growing h**p. With this being our first year of growing, I wanted to go small and really get to learn the plant. With that being said, I wanted to share some pics of our girls with you.

Happy Independence Day! Remember to keep your animals safe tonight, and throughout the weekend. We know this can be a bad time for animals with the fireworks. And for those shooting them off, please remember your neighbors with animals and give them fair warning so they can take measures to make sure their fur-babies are safe.

I also wanted to bring a little history to the page today, with how our flag has changed since the days of being under Rule of England through today.
