The big guy would much rather be at the tree farm 🎄

Many of you know and love Davey, the horse who has pulled our wagon rides for years. This fall he injured the tendons in his front leg while running in the pasture. His prognosis is good, but he needs stall rest and a quiet season to fully heal.

Because of this, the horses will be taking this season off and we won’t have horse-drawn wagon rides this year. We will still be offering free tractor-pulled wagon rides around the farm, and all of our usual Christmas tree fun.

We’re so grateful for your understanding and support as we give Davey the time he needs to recover, and we’re hopeful he’ll be back to work next year. 🎄🐴🚜

12 years ago my life was headed down a much different path than it is today. I woke up one day and decided- life is short. So I did something I never thought I’d do. I bought a draft horse named Barney. I didn’t have a barn, I had never owned a horse. I knew virtually nothing about horse ownership. But I didn’t need to. Barney taught me everything I needed to know. There has never been anything else on the farm that pivoted my life into such an amazing direction. I have met great people, have amazing memories and found my passion. Absolutely none of it would be possible if it wasn’t for Barney. The horse who never made a mistake. Ever. Always willing to please. Could be trusted explicitly. He never embarrassed me, even though he had many opportunities to do so.
It hurts my heart to say that he was laid to rest today. He left me with a void I don’t think can ever be filled. But at the same time, what a pleasure to have crossed paths with such an amazing soul. I am where I am today because of you big guy. Rest easy
