Garden is looking good despite the heat and the drought conditions! I will always be team no till for gardening!

Waiting on the tomatoes to ripen up! We've pulled a few small harvest already but it's looking like we will have a bumper crop this year! We even have several volunteer cantaloupe and watermelon plants that are putting on fruit which is fantastic because I didn't get any planted! Jesus always supplies our every need and I am very grateful for His provisions!

This is never a fun discovery in the garden 😭 I was just in the potatoes earlier this week and not a one, last night....COVERED IN BLISTER BEETLES! They can mow your garden down in a night I tell ya!

We've sprayed Captian Jack's Dead Bug and neem oil, (which is supposed to sterilize them so they can't reproduce,) so hopefully we wake up to a different situation but they've already mowed down several large areas of potatoes!

Two of my best tips for transplanting tomatoes into the garden...

1 - Plant deep! I know I know! You take a tall healthy plant out to the garden, only to pull all the bottom leaves off, and plant it till it's just above ground (about 2/3rds of the plant should be underground.) I promise though you will have a much healthy root system by doing this.

2- Before planting put an egg in the bottom of each hole, gently peirce it and then cover with a handful of dirt or compost. As the egg breaks down and decomposes it will slowly feed the plant during the growing season. I rarely if ever have to "feed" my tomatoes extra fertilizer since we started doing this several years ago.

P.s I put an egg in the hole for my pepper plants as well!

Teaching Dakota how to use the zero turn 😬 Probably should have already taught him a couple years ago but I love to mow and didn't want to give it up. Due to issues with joint pain and carpel tunnel I just can't handle the vibrations any longer. Our oldest son is here less and less so we decided it was time for mom to retire and another to take over!

Surprise! Apparently we had a broody hen, she hatched one chick, and then kicked it out of the nest 🙄
