I just want to take a minute to thank everyone who has ever supported Lelos in any way.
Whether you’ve come to Lelos for some yummy food, shared our posts, told a friend about us, or supported us from afar, thank you. It truly means more than you know.
At the end of the day, I’m just a girl with a dream.
A lot of people don’t know this, but the building Lelos is in at the Franklin County Fairgrounds was once called Gourmet Catering, owned by Claire Senn. Claire bought the booth in the 1980s, and she and her family worked that booth for 30 years before they had to say goodbye.
When I was just a teenager, I worked in that booth with my cousins. One of Claire’s daughters, Yvonne, married my uncle, so that booth and that space have always meant something special to me. I absolutely loved when the fair came to town. Working that booth with my cousins and my aunt created some of the best memories.
So when it eventually went up for sale, owning it myself became such a huge dream of mine. And because of my amazing husband, who helped make that dream come true, we bought it and turned it into Lelos.
When we took it over, I knew I wanted to keep the menu similar to what Gourmet Catering had. The one thing missing was Claire’s famous apple cake, but unfortunately that recipe stayed a very well-kept secret.
At the time we bought the booth, I was working for a local ice cream company, and I completely fell in love with ice cream. I ran their ice cream truck for a couple of summers and loved every second of it. I loved it so much that I eventually bought that exact ice cream truck myself, and one day I hope to turn it into a traditional ding-dong truck… so watch out, because that may be coming very soon.
Adding ice cream to our menu ended up being one of the best things we ever did. It made Lelos feel even more like us. Our menu became the perfect mix of fair food favorites and ice cream, and that has been so special to build.
Now that we’ve been here for a couple of years, I would absolutely love to open my very own ice cream shop too… maybe someday
I just hope people continue to come, enjoy our food, enjoy our ice cream, and keep supporting our little dream.
The fairgrounds will always be our home, but I’m so excited to see what the future holds for our little family.
One of my favorite parts of all of this is seeing teenagers come in and embrace the chaos that is the food industry. I love being part of that first-job experience for them. I love giving them a place to learn, work hard, and make memories of their own.
I truly cannot wait to see what the future holds, and I hope you’ll all stay along for the ride with us.
Thank you for supporting Lelos.
Here we come 2026!
