LONG POST
This is a HUGE apology to ALL those waiting on a response to a text, phone call, or ranch email. With your patience and a little grace we hope to get caught up soon. This is also an explanation for why I haven’t posted in a week. We have had some great HIGH moments but some challenges in the last week. The good stuff in the last 5 days: my awesome nephew Caleb Kramer married the gorgeous, smart, and kind Makenna Hawk. And the reception was EPIC! I SO enjoy my Kramer relatives when they get together and party and dance and so on..! We are blessed to have that young new Mr&Mrs Kramer (another Remark-spelled-Backwards!) in our family and our daily lives!
HOWEVER, we also had fences and flood gates down from all the rain and floating debris (and cows wandering off our property as a result)
Last Saturday one of Briana’s best friends, a hard-working Ranch volunteer and very sweet young lady Taylor McFerran lost her grandfather unexpectedly. Our hearts go out to her as she grieves this heavy loss. We love you Taylor.
Hours were spent last Sunday when our first ever highland calf emergency birth required manual intervention (ie, a calf needed to “be pulled”). Though Mike has done this hundreds of times in the past it was totally new for most of us. BIG shout out to Paul Engelking for the assist! This gave us a new WHITE highland heifer… and she is a new bottle-fed baby so we are ramping up THAT process now!
And we started weaning our Spring calves Tuesday! You can see from the attached video how THAT started! I poked sweet Sylvie in the eye and then broke my iphone. It is my LEAST favorite time, hearing the babies CRY for their mommies for 3 days straight 24x7! UGH.
I’m sure I’m missing something else that happened in the last five days but what I mean is … Apologies for the lack of responses the last two weeks, we are behind in all things!
