☀️ Open Barn Update ☀️

We are once again under a heat advisory this week! Temperatures are expected to reach the 80s–90s, with the heat index making it feel like we’re in the low 100s. 🥵

Because the safety and well-being of our animals, visitors, and volunteers always come first, we have decided to postpone Open Barn Hours until next week. 💚

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and truly appreciate everyone’s understanding, patience, and continued support of Louie Farms. We can’t wait to welcome you back to the farm when the temperatures are a little more comfortable!

In the meantime, if you have any questions about volunteer opportunities or horse riding lessons, please reach out:

Louie Farms had such a beautiful couple of weeks! 💚

Last week, we had the opportunity to walk in the Knightstown Jubilee Day Parade, and we are so grateful we were able to be a part of it! We loved seeing everyone who came out to watch and cheer us on. 🥰

Today, we were blessed to be a part of the Kammy’s Kause Event on Main Street in Fortville. We had such a wonderful time meeting so many new people and watching the joy our goats and bunnies brought to everyone who stopped by for a visit, a pet, and a little animal therapy. 🐐🐰

We’re looking forward to hopefully seeing some of those familiar faces out at the barn soon! We also truly appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding when we needed to give some of our animals a little break throughout the event. Their comfort and well-being always come first. 💚

A huge thank-you to both events for giving Louie Farms the opportunity to get our name and mission out to even more people outside of Greenfield. We are so grateful for every person who stopped to learn about what we do, meet our animals, and support our mission.

It was a beautiful day, and we couldn’t be more thankful to have been a part of it! 🌞💚

💚 Animal of the Week: Charlie! 💚

Charlie had a bit of a rough beginning. When we first went to look at Charlie, her previous owners refused to let us come to their property to meet her. Instead, they met us in a Kroger parking lot. When they brought Charlie out of the trailer, she was extremely wary of people and had what appeared to be tiny burn marks covering her chest. Our barn manager and assistant barn manager at the time just couldn't leave her behind, so they brought her home to the farm. She has lived a very happy life here ever since! 🥰

Charlie went to training around 2 years old, where she learned to drive, ride, and walk both on and off the platform. She wasn't supposed to be ridden much yet because of her young age, but she did get some early breaking and came back from training much more confident and manageable than she was before. 💚

Over the last 2 years, Charlie has become a favorite around the farm. She is no longer apprehensive around people and absolutely LOVES getting right in your face for hugs, kisses, and as much attention as you'll give her. 😂 She does a wonderful job for the farrier and even got to walk in the Riley Days parade last year! 🎉

Charlie just turned 4 in June and has been a wonderful lesson horse at the barn for the past year. Her two best buddies are Buck and Willow, and she is definitely a strong-willed, stubborn girl! She isn't afraid to put another horse in their place if they aren't part of her group and decide to mess with her or her friends. 😂

All-in-all, we love Charlie very much and are so thankful that our barn manager and assistant barn manager decided they couldn't leave her behind that day. She has grown into such a sweet, funny, strong-willed girl and is truly a special part of the Louie Farms family. 💚🐴

If you'd like to help support Charlie, her care costs around $175 a month. Donations can be made via check, venmo, or cash. Thank you for supporting the farm and keep helping us spread the word! 💚

This week is looking beautiful! ☀️ It’s the perfect week to make a trip out to the farm and spend some time with all of our amazing animals — horses, donkeys, goats, bunnies, chickens, cats, and our mini black Angus! 🥰

Come groom the horses and goats, hold our sweet bunnies, and even get the chance to walk some of the animals around our riding arena. Our animals love the attention, and we love getting to watch people bond with them, build confidence, and learn something new. 💚

🐐 Animal of the Week: Wheezy 🐐

Meet Wheezy! ❤️

Wheezy was born right here on the farm and was the runt of a set of triplets. Because he was so tiny, we brought him into the house where he was bottle-fed around the clock and raised alongside our dogs. He even spent his days running around in the cutest little outfits!

When he was finally big enough to join the other goats outside, he wasn't quite sure whether he was a dog or a goat. 😂 Thankfully, he figured it out, and today he's one of our favorite boys. Wheezy has the sweetest personality, wonderful manners, and is always happy to spend time with anyone willing to give him some love.

From the tiniest little bottle baby to one of the best-behaved goats on the farm, Wheezy has been a joy to watch grow up, and we're so thankful he's part of the Louie Farms family. 💙

If you’d like to help support Wheezy, his care costs around $50 a month. 😊 Donations can be made via venmo, cash, or check. Thank you so much for your continued support, keep helping us spread the word! 💚

As if they couldn't get any sweeter! ❤️

Moments like this are such a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do here at the farm.

Katherine and her mom, Laura, have been coming out all summer, working together to help Katherine overcome some of her fears. It has been an absolute joy to watch her confidence grow as she continues to take brave steps outside of her comfort zone. Every visit has been another opportunity to learn, grow, and discover just how capable she truly is.

We're so grateful for every person who visits the farm—whether you're here simply to love on the animals, spend time outdoors, or work through challenges with the help of our incredible animals and our team. Seeing the connections that are made and the progress that's possible is what makes all the hard work worthwhile.

A huge thank you to the Wagner family for trusting us and allowing us to be a small part of Katherine's journey. We're so proud of you, Katherine! ❤️
