Fergsfabfungi As Idaho's premier mushroom grower, I specialize in growing a wide array of gourmet & medicinal fungi My name is Brody Ferguson.

Serving as Idaho's premier mushroom grower, I have been growing gourmet & medicinal mushrooms for over 5 years. My business, Ferg's Fabulous Fungi, started from an 8th grade science project when I "tried" to grow mushrooms. Over the course of the first year, through an abundance of trial and error, I taught myself how to grow gourmet mushrooms. From that point on, I knew I had achieved something special and decided to share it with the world through the creation of my business: Ferg's Fabulous Fungi LLC. Idaho finally got with it… it’s FALL! 🍂🍄

The temperatures have dropped, the leaves are falling and our mushrooms are loving every second of it.

These gorgeous chestnut mushrooms are showing off their signature rich, reddish brown caps and speckled texture.

These ladies are known for their slightly nutty flavor, richness, and crisp texture when they are cooked. Chestnuts are a fall favorite that deserve a spot in your kitchen this fall season.

Our Local Table 🍄 Meet Idaho Mushrooms | Ferg’s Fabulous Fungi

Good food starts long before it reaches our kitchen. For the mushrooms we serve at House of the Little Pig, that story begins in Greenleaf, Idaho.

There, Brody Ferguson grows gourmet mushrooms on his family’s farm. What started as a middle school science project has become Ferg’s Fabulous Fungi, supplying kitchens across the Treasure Valley, including ours.

We love the flavor and variety they bring to our dishes. Just as much, we love knowing the people behind what’s on your plate and supporting the talent growing right here in Idaho.

Our Local Table is our way of introducing you to those farmers, makers, and neighbors. The people whose work becomes part of what we share around the table.

First up, Ferg’s. We’re pretty lucky to have them close by.

This pizza here is the Fun-Guy. Bentham’s Table started with their house made garlic & herb béchamel sauce & topped with locally grown mushrooms (😉😉😉😉) porcini powder, mozzarella and fresh thyme.

What you see is just the tip of the fungal iceberg! 🍄

The mushroom is the fruiting body or the part responsible for producing and spreading spores.

The real fungal network is the mycelium, which can spread through soil, wood, and other organic material.

Pretty incredible for something we usually think of as “just a mushroom.” 👀
