Wheelock Mountain Farm stewardship and cultivation of healthy relationships, with ourselves, each other, and the earth....

Dear Friends and Family, I hope this note finds you well! I don't usually send out mass emails but I'm giving it a go. I'm writing to tell you about an exciting and heartfelt new project that a group of friends and I've been working on. My hope is that you can help spread the word and or support this effort in getting off the ground.

Here's the scoop: This August 7-13th we're hosting the first annual Uprise Youth Activism Camp here in Northern Vermont. We feel strongly that now is a crucial time for all of us, and most especially youth, to be supporting one another in the work for a liberated, just and healthy world. So we've organized a week long camp focused on building skills and sharing in deep experiences in the realms of Art, Activism, Eco-Agriculture and the Natural World. The Camp is hosted by Wheelock Mountain Farm and Justice Center, a 600 acre sanctuary and retreat space dedicated to nourishing the hearts, souls, and work of Non-Violent Eco-Justice activists and organizers. Youth from across the Northeast are signed up to come, for many of whom the chance to get to participate in wild rural environments is rare. But for all who participate it is sure to be a unique and special experience as we dive into the intentions of deepening our connections to ourselves, to one another and to the wild and changing world beyond. Please check out the website to learn more about the camp.

Can you help?
For this fledgling camp to fly we need some support. Here are things that would help:

Donate to our online fundraiser to help cover costs of food, transportation, staff, and camper scholarships. Most all of our campers are in need of partial or full scholarships to attend. Please if it is within your means consider sponsoring a camper or two.

Forward this email to others that you think might be interested in helping, or who might have connections to teens who'd want to attend.

Share our Facebook event page. (it's Uprise Youth Activism Camp)

Thank you all so so much. For the Earth and All Beings!
Sincerely, Erik (erok) Gillard

Our Second Tuesday of the Month Community Potlucks will resume on May 10th at 6:30pm and continue throughout the summer.

This year, each potluck will be based upon a theme, and because we had a record maple syrup season, we've decided to make the theme of May's Potluck that sweet, sticky bounty of the forest we love so much--Maple Syrup!! We'll have our canner going, so that you can bring your own containers to can our delicious syrup into at a discounted price!! And remember, all proceeds of Wheelock Mountain Farm Maple Syrup support the educational, land stewardship, and community empowerment programming we offer every year!

It was a blast to have over 75 people out to our Sugarhouse Brunch, and it'd be great to see you all again on May 10th!! Be sure to save the subsequent Potluck dates as well: June 14th, July 12th, August 9th and September 13th.

Wheelock Mountain Farm has been hosting 2nd Tuesday of the Month Potlucks for the last four years. Each June, our potluck has commemorated June 11th--The International Day of Solidarity with Marius Mason, Eric McDavid, & Long-Term Anarchist Prisoners. This year, the second Tuesday of June is June 9th, and on that night we will again be honoring and invoking those suffering from state repression for their engagement in eco-liberation struggles. The international June 11th organizing crew is calling this a year of transition and a year for celebration--celebration for Eric McDavid's getting out of prison (10 years early because the FBI was caught with holding evidence from the defense), and for Marius Mason's coming out of an imposed gender role. This year Marius came out publicly as a man and began seeking resources for his physical transition.

This year also saw state repression, and resistance to it, grow with uprisings against police in Ferguson, New York, and Baltimore (to name the most obvious). It is in the spirit of intersectional liberation struggles that we will come together, share stories, information, and strategies, and decide how we can best support our comrades on the inside and on the outside. It'd be great to see lots of folks out, but if you can't make it please consider making a donation and writing a letter to Marius or Eric!
