Boston Cream Pie is with us for another week or so! Be sure to get your fix while you can.

Did you know that this cake is called a pie because in the mid-1800s, baking tins were mostly used for pies but could also be used for cakes? Cakes and pies were baked in the same pans then! Regardless, if you haven’t tried this one, you’re missing out.

There’s quite a bit of controversy around the origin of Brown Stone Front Cake. She proudly sits on our shelves and customers on the daily ask us “what is brown stone?” It’s simple, she’s a subtle chocolate cake with a sweet caramel frosting.

Earlier versions of this recipe date back to 1903, but the earliest version appeared in 1895. It gets its name due to the reddish-brown color resembling brownstone building facades, which were wildly popular back then.

It’s Quiche Week and if you have visited us today, the aroma of fresh roasting veggies fills the air.

Tomorrow we will bake quiche that you can take home with you! Keep a whole quiche in the freezer for a last minute, easy meal.
