💧 WATER FACT WEDNESDAY
Does your tap water smell or taste like a swimming pool?
Chlorine is commonly used to disinfect public water and help protect it from bacteria while it travels through the distribution system.
Although chlorine serves an important purpose, some homeowners dislike the noticeable taste and smell once the water reaches their faucet.
If chlorine is affecting how your household’s water tastes or smells, Juturna can help identify the right treatment option for your home.

💧 WATER FACT WEDNESDAY
Why can soft water feel “slippery” during a shower?
It isn’t necessarily soap being left behind.
Hard-water minerals can react with soap and leave residue on your skin. With softened water, that mineral-related residue is reduced, allowing you to feel more of your skin’s natural oils.
The difference can feel unusual when you’re accustomed to bathing in hard water—but “squeaky” does not always mean cleaner.
Wondering whether your home has hard water? Let’s test it.

💧 WATER FACT WEDNESDAY
Blue or green stains around your drains and fixtures aren’t just a cleaning problem—they may be a clue about your water’s pH.
Water with a low, acidic pH can gradually corrode certain plumbing materials. Metals released from the pipes may then create blue-green staining when exposed to air.
That means the stain you can see may be pointing to a problem you cannot see inside your plumbing.
A water test can help identify whether pH is contributing to the issue.

💧 WATER FACT WEDNESDAY

What causes that stubborn white buildup around faucets, shower doors and
fixtures?

It may be hard water.

Hard water contains elevated levels of minerals such as calcium and magnesium. As water evaporates, those minerals can remain behind as scale.

But the buildup you see is only part of the story. Mineral deposits can also accumulate inside plumbing, water heaters and water-using appliances.

If cleaning the same white residue over and over has become part of your routine, it
may be time to test your water.

💧 WATER FACT WEDNESDAY

Does your water smell like rotten eggs?

That unmistakable odor is often associated with hydrogen sulfide gas. Groundwater can naturally pick up sulfur before it reaches your home, and certain well conditions can make the smell more noticeable.

Besides creating an unpleasant taste and odor, higher hydrogen sulfide levels may contribute to corrosion of plumbing and metal fixtures.

You don’t have to keep guessing what is causing the smell.

Chlorine Taste?

Cause: Chlorine

If you think that your water smells and tastes like chlorine, you might be right. Chlorine is a disinfectant used to treat city water and keep it safe from bacteria as it travels to your home. The city is required to remove any harmful contaminants and keep it that way as part of their service to you, but no one wants to drink water that smells like a swimming pool.
While chlorine is very important to protect your water from contamination, it is no longer needed when you are using it in your home and it can cause some troubles inside your home.

HOW DOES WHOLE-HOME UV WATER TREATMENT WORK?

Water passes through integrated prefiltration before entering the VIQUA UV chamber. There, ultraviolet light inactivates certain microorganisms without adding disinfecting chemicals to your water.

The VIQUA Arros has been validated through microbial testing for UV-dose delivery to inactivate:

✓ E. coli
✓ F***l coliform
✓ Giardia
✓ Cryptosporidium

The result is an additional layer of protection for water throughout your home.

Acid Staining ?

Cause: Low or High pH level

Water with a low (acidic) pH level acts like it’s hungry and therefore eats away at your plumbing while it travels to your faucets, leaving your pipes thin and prone to pin-hole leaks. The metals stripped from the pipe are deposited
on your fixtures and turn to blue/green stains as they are exposed to air.
Water with a high (basic) pH level acts the opposite way. It is carrying way too much stuff to eat and starts to lighten its load as it travels to your faucets. This means it’s causing build-up in your pipes and restricting the water flow into your home.
