Here’s a glimpse of a few of the many coffee houses and traditional coffee ceremonies we’ve experienced during our time here in Ethiopia. 🇪🇹☕️

Coffee is so much more than a beverage here, it is an expression of hospitality, friendship, and connection. Nearly every restaurant and coffee shop has a special corner dedicated to the traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony. One of our most meaningful experiences was being welcomed into my friend’s mother’s home, where she prepared coffee especially for us.

We’ve sampled so many incredible coffees and discovered how each place creates its own signature flavor. From the way the coffee beans are roasted to the herbs and spices added during preparation, every cup has its own distinct taste and character.

Coffee here is served black, without cream or added flavoring syrups, allowing you to fully experience its natural flavors and notes. Most coffees are beautifully strong and served alongside a small glass of water to cleanse your palate between sips.

And then there’s the fresh ginger tea! Almost everywhere we’ve visited including our hotel offers its own blend made with fresh ginger and other herbs and spices. I’ve enjoyed it nearly every day since arriving.

Every cup has been different, but each experience has carried the same message: slow down, sit together, and savor the moment. ❤️💛💚

Earlier today, we visited one of the most inspirational coffee spaces, Yoya Coffee. It has its own coffee school, roasting facility, and a beautiful restaurant serving coffee, and a full menu all in one location. The hospitality has been so refreshing.

Today, has been such an incredible day. Before going to Yoya Coffee, spent some time coffee hopping at the popular Coffee Park, where several different coffee houses are located in one shared community. Throughout the day we’re able to sample a variety of coffees and observe different brewing methods and techniques across multiple cafés. I’ll share more about the different coffee houses we visit in a later post.

But right now, I simply want to savor the moment I’m in. The rain is pouring outside, I’m surrounded by family and friends, and I cannot imagine a more perfect place to be. 🇪🇹☕️❤️

Our first day in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, felt like an entire week of unforgettable experiences packed into one day! 🇪🇹

What a beautiful city, filled with warm people, amazing food, rich culture, and so much history. We saw, tasted, learned, and experienced more than we could have imagined, and this was only day one!

One of the most meaningful moments was participating in an Ethiopian coffee ceremony for the first time in Ethiopia. Although we have attended a couple of coffee ceremonies in America, there was something truly unforgettable about watching the green beans being freshly roasted and served here in the ancestral home of Arabica coffee.

For those who may not understand the significance, Arabica coffee traces its natural origins to the highland forests of Ethiopia. Here, coffee is much more than a beverage. The traditional coffee ceremony is a deeply rooted expression of hospitality, connection, conversation, and community values that also sit at the heart of Savor the Moment.

We have proudly served Ethiopian coffee since the inception of Savor the Moment, so traveling to Ethiopia and experiencing this tradition in the place where the story of Arabica coffee began was incredibly special.

Ethiopia, you did not disappoint in any way. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to experience the beauty of this country, learn more about its coffee heritage, and immerse ourselves in its rich traditions and culture. ❤️💛💚

When you own a dessert bar, exploring bakeries and coffee houses is part of the experience, no matter where in the world you are. ☕️✨

While in Abu Dhabi, we had the opportunity to explore the dessert and coffee culture, discover new flavors, admire beautiful spaces, meet some amazing people, and gather inspiration to bring home to Savor the Moment.

No matter where I am in the world, as an entrepreneur I’m always learning, creating, and thinking about how we can expand our guest experiences back home.
