Friday prep day in full effect!

We got a bunch of cherry tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes and even tomato seconds for folks that still need to make some sauce for the winter.

We got butternuts, heirloom pumpkins, and garlic all sorted for the market.

We whipped up another batch of our hot cocoa mix. You can get a cup on Saturday or take home a bag of mix for hot coca anytime.

Our take-home frozen meal is Beer-Brined Pork Ribs with Roasted Broccoli: pork ribs brined in b**r, lime juice, salt, and black pepper, grilled to perfection and served with a side of roasted broccoli and a garnish of pico de gallo.

October on the farm has a rhythm all its own. The tomato harvest is winding down and the sweet potato dig is still a few days away, which has given us a window to tend to some longer-term projects. This week our team spent time getting the asparagus patch ready for its winter rest.

Harvesting the first of the gourds!

This variety is the Extra Long Handled Dipper gourd and it sure lives up to its name.

The handle or neck of the gourd is around 3 feet long!

We plan to save some for drying but are going to bring some cute green ones to the market on Saturday.

Just another October day harvesting the cutest pumpkins and butternut squash.

They make the perfect decor right now and when you get hungry or are just tired of looking at them, you can cook them up and eat them!

With the tomato harvest slowing down and the digging of sweet potatoes still a few days away we have had time to work on other tasks.

Like getting our asparagus patch ready for it's winter sleep.
😴
Our employees removed all the asparagus ferns, weeded the beds, shaped the beds, then laid down a thick layer of woodchips in the walkways.
🌿
Next spring we will be ready to start harvesting asparagus spears!

We are so pumped for the first farmers' market in October!

We got cherry tomatoes, garlic, butternut squash, pumpkins, hot peppers, and even a few heirloom tomatoes if you get to the market early.

Our frozen take-home meal is Steak Fajitas with Cilantro Rice: sliced steak with sweet peppers, onions, and garlic, served with a side of vibrant cilantro rice.

Plus we made a big batch of pico de gallo, guacamole, and our dairy-free hot cocoa mix!
