Hey y’all. We’re closed today, but my mom said we should introduce ourselves.
My name is Shug and this is my little brother Fat. We own Fat & Shug’s Sauced Up Buckits.
We started this business after a talk with our mom about growing up and learning how to be responsible. She taught us about saving money and stuff like Roth IRAs so we can have a future and not just spend everything we make.
One day, instead of just watching, mom let us help in the kitchen. That’s when the sauces came to life. We started mixing, tasting, fixing, and arguing about what tasted better. Some sauces were too spicy, some were a no (like to coconut sauce Fat asked for after watching Moana), and some made us stop eating like, “Yeah… this one’s it.”
Those are the sauces that made it into the buckets.
Every sauce has a personality. One is bold, one is smooth, and one will sneak up on you when you least expect it. We didn’t want regular seafood sauce that tastes like everybody else’s. We wanted sauce that makes you slow down and really taste your food.
Running this business is helping us learn work ethic, dedication, how to talk to customers, financial literacy and how to properly handle money. Our mom handles the hard part like cooking. It’s not always easy, but it’s cool knowing we’re building something of our own.
When I grow up, I want to be an engineer and work with coding. Fat says he wants to be a police officer. For now, we’re just two kids learning how to be business owners and making some good seafood at the same time.
