Café Selva Norte brings together coffee producers across Cajamarca, Amazonas, and San Martín, Peru, working to build a more resilient future for coffee and the forests that sustain it.⁠

Founded in 2018 as the first venture of the Urapi Fund, Café Selva Norte works closely with ten cooperatives to restore degraded land, support agroforestry systems, and strengthen local communities. Today, more than 3,000 producers are part of this collective effort, combining coffee production with ecosystem restoration and sustainable farming practices.⁠

At the heart of the project is the Farm School, where more than one million coffee seedlings and thousands of forest plants are produced each year. Alongside farmer training and the introduction of resilient varieties, these efforts are helping transform degraded land into thriving agroforestry systems while protecting Peru’s rich biodiversity.

After traveling through the south and north of the country, our Sourcing Coordinator Abraham Castro Vindas brought back five key insights about Peruvian coffee, from the importance of traceability to the quality still waiting to be discovered.
