Yall - the fence is done!!!! Finally a REAL fence after 4 years with goats. Electric is more than half done and building still sits at 95% complete (construction wise). We’ve got a little ways to go but I can sit on my Goatio for now.

Sometimes grazing checks don’t go as planned. I simply went to refill water….

🌿 but because they had very little green left (certainly enough to get through the night) and their current spot was directly next to a busy county road, I didn’t feel comfortable leaving them so I made the decision to move them.

🐝 we knew their next area had a spot with ground bees and we thought we took care of the issue (after a few stings and running wild swatting at the air) but unfortunately there was still about 20-30 swarming the area. So I decided instead of risking the animals getting stung I would fence the area - and pray I didn’t get stung in the process.

🧑🏻‍🌾 I needed to rearrange some fencing so the solar charge had good connection which meant moving the solar charger and strategically moving fencing without the herd getting out since they were already moved to the new grazing spot.

🐑 then on the final pass to make sure all fencing was connected, no loose spots and the “don’t touch” signs were in their correct places I noticed a lamb that didn’t look quite right. So after some checking and a very easy catch (which means something is definitely off) I picked her up, put her in the back of my truck and took her to Wooly Green Grazers | Sheep Grazing Residential & Commercial for a health check.

It’s not always roses, it’s not always easy (even though we make it look like it on social media) and it doesn’t always go as planned. But we do it anyways. All in a days work. 💪💛

Well… apparently I have some making up to do. 😂🐐

I made a whole National Goat Day video on Instagram yesterday, only to discover this morning that something with the audio prevented Instagram from sharing it to Facebook. 🤦‍♀️

So I’m slightly embarrassed that National Goat Day came and went and I had NOTHING to show for it on here! I mean… of all people. THE GOAT LADY missed National Goat Day?! Unacceptable. 😂

So, to rectify the situation, I made this little video for TikTok this morning and figured I’d share it here too. Enjoy! 🐐❤️

Besides… as you all know, EVERY day is National Goat Day here at Van Acres. 😜🐐
