U.S. CATTLE REPORT 📉 U.S. Beef Imports Up 15% from Last Year, Led by Brazil; Argentina Ranks 9th 📉

The top five sources of U.S. beef imports from January through March 2026 were led by Brazil at 394.3 million pounds, followed by Australia at 333.7 million pounds, Canada at 247.6 million pounds, Mexico at 196.8 million pounds, and New Zealand at 170.2 million pounds. Total U.S. beef imports during the first quarter reached 1.709 billion pounds, up 15.34% from the same period in 2025.

Argentina ranked as the 9th largest source of imported beef into the U.S., but posted one of the sharpest year-over-year increases. Imports from Argentina climbed from 32.5 million pounds to 61.7 million pounds, an increase of nearly 90%. Even with that surge, Brazil still imported more than 6 times the amount of beef into the U.S. compared to Argentina, with a difference of roughly 332.6 million pounds.

Paraguay posted the largest percentage increase among major suppliers, with imports jumping from 43.7 million pounds in 2025 to 94.7 million pounds in 2026, a gain of 116.64%, outpacing Argentina’s growth rate.
