One of the biggest issues new (and experienced) gardeners run into is leggy plants.

Leggy plants are seedlings that grow too tall, too quickly, resulting in long thin stems that can't support the plant. This is typically caused by lights that are too far away, but excess heat or humidity can also be the culprit.

But what some people don't know is that sometimes you can save your leggy plants, as long as it is a plant that will grow roots from the stem. And, as an added bonus, this will make your plants even stronger as they will have a more robust root system. Check out the video to learn more!

Have you tried this with your plants?

Just picked up our corned beef from Bator's Farm and I can't wait to cook it up. I know it's only a few days until St. Patrick's Day, but this looks so delicious! It even came with slabs of Irish butter and a seasoning packet from Castle Road Barbeque. I think they're sold out for this year, but all the locals should have them on your radar for next year as I don't know of anyone else who is doing something like this.

Welp, mud season is definitely starting here in NH and my POS front wheel drive SUV is stuck.

Luckily I had some seed starting supplies in my car (don't ask why) so I'm enjoying the sun while I start some pepper seedlings in a stranger's driveway, lol.

Fingers crossed that the tow truck comes soon and that my AAA covers it!

Greenhouses are both getting full! Ack!

And our first batch of babies for the year are doing well. Fingers crossed that someday I have it set up so I don't have to do all this in my dining room. 🤦

Me, last June...

"I'm going to go easy on planting next year...I overdid it this year..."

Me on Feb. 22...

"I only have around 400 plants...and I haven't started on the peppers or lettuce pots yet...that's not too much is it?"

Dropped some goodies off at the county Fair to be judged. I have to admit I was a little disappointed that they won't be tasting them. They will be judged on other issues. How cool would it be if I won an award?

While the work of preserving each year's produce never really ends, it's starting to get crazy around here. As things start to come into season, it means putting away as much as you can for the winter. It's exhausting, it's hot, you get sweaty, and really you would just much rather go to the beach. But when you open a fresh can of tomatoes or some amazing fermented veggies in the middle of winter, it's worth it all.

05/31/2025

We won't be at the market today, but hopefully tomorrow if things dry out a little! Meanwhile, I will be putting the plants out in about an hour if you're wanting to get some today.

05/30/2025

We have more babies hatching! Not sure yet what the final results will be, but there are ten bielefelders and twelve black copper marans/golden laced wyandotte mixes in there. So far three of the mixes have hatched!
