We are right back at it on the farm and tonight we took our first steps leading into weaning calves this fall. 🌱 🍂 🐂

The group of calves that’s on the home pasture, just got their initial vaccines which becomes a “weeks long” process to set these calves up for success when it’s time to wean them next month. Because we believe healthy calves leads to less reliance on antibiotics down the road.

And I think it’s safe to say that I’ve officially been replaced to the official chute operator. 😂

There ain’t no tired like “fair tired”…😴

Here’s the thing- we look forward to fair week all year long. And then, somehow, it’s over in the blink of an eye.

It’s a lot of work. Washing animals, keeping the barn and our area looking its best, early mornings and late nights and then working hard on show day to showcase the animals we’ve spent all season feeding, working with and preparing.

But somehow, it’s the best kind of tired. Because somewhere in between all that work is the very best part.

We get to see so many family and friends, some we see all the time and some we only seem to see at the fair. We visit with customers and followers, share stories, catch up, laugh a lot and make memories along the way. One day turns into the next, and the next… and suddenly it’s Sunday night.

The barns that were so full all week are empty. The rides are being taken apart. The exhibits are packed up. And just like that, another fair is in the books.

All that’s left are the memories to carry us through until next year.

Some of our dearest friendships have grown through the fair over the years and I think that’s one of the things that makes this week so special. It’s more than showing cattle, ribbons or rides. It’s the people, the friendships, the traditions and getting to share something we love together.

So yes, there really ain’t no tired like fair tired. But there also aren’t many weeks we’d work this hard for, look forward to this much or miss quite so much when they’re over.

It’s pretty amazing what one week can hold. ❤️

Until next year, fair. 🎡🐂💙

Open Show Day at the fair. 🐂 💙

There are hours and hours spent at home leading, washing, feeding and practicing before we ever step into the show ring. And while it may look like we’re just walking cows in circles, it’s about so much more than that.

It’s raising responsible kids. They’re learning patience, confidence, how to handle disappointment and that the work still has to get done even when you’re tired. It’s hard work. It can definitely be stressful. And there are days when “family fun” might be a bit of a stretch. 😂

I’m so proud that this is something we get to do together. It takes a lot of work to get here, but watching them in that ring makes it all worth the effort. 💙💙

Youth show day! 🍀 💙💙 The girls made the boys work hard in the show ring today but they persevered! So proud of them and all the kiddos that jumped on halters today to help us show our 9 Blondes! Teamwork makes the dream work and it’s so great to see them all work together. 🫶
