We feel so fortunate that Clem and Carol Nirosky are the new owners of West Wind Roxie. They've taken such unbelievable care of her and we are thrilled that they entered her into the ADCA competition. Just goes to show that a more mature cow can still win 5th place!

It's been a very difficult week saying goodbye to all our lovely Dexters. The last one, a wonderful pet steer named Sweet 16, just was delivered to our friends' Hartshorn Ridge Farm http://hartshornridge.com/ in Greenwich, NY. We are confident he will do well in his new job as sheep protector.

Happy to report that Romeo and his ladies were vetted yesterday and cleared for travel to Ohio and beyond. I'm so happy that we have found "forever" homes for nearly all our Dexters. We're only waiting on a home for our pet steer "Sweet 16". He's such a gentle giant, was a perfect gentleman when Grace took him to the Washington County Fair and, we love him. Keeping our fingers crossed that the right home for him will become available and soon!

It's official, Bambi and Chip are BFFs. I went to do a photo shoot today and they were like glued together following me around the paddock. Their runway look was "late-winter mud" not to be confused with the brand name Mudd.

First born calf of 2017 on Stone Meadow Farm. This was a bit unexpected. We breed to have calves born in late spring not winter.However, a customer had sent a heifer to us to be bred, but unbeknownst to us (and them apparently), she was already pregnant when she arrived last fall. So the other day, out pops this little girl. We do have a pink jacket, but it's new and still had tags on so Dan put on the previously used blue one instead. It turns out that Lavender is a great mom and several of the other cows have taken to babysitting when the opportunity arises. The first baby is always the most exciting. When all the calves start dropping, it's like a nursery school and all the mothers become quite busy taking care of their own.

My heart is breaking... doesn't anybody out there want a "forever" cow? I know when you own cattle, the ultimate destination is well... but I'd love to save Roxy from that fate. Please call Dan at 914-474-2815 to give Roxy a forever home.
