Thank you all for reaching out about the little skunk. I'm not sure how he got separated from his mama. He was found in the middle of the driveway all by himself, close to the house about 6 tonight. I think we found someone to take him tomorrow. For tonight, he's inside, in a box with a blanket. Hoping he does ok through the night! I'll update tomorrow! Baby skunks are so cute!

Often, we have someone riding through the pasture. Maybe it's a 4 wheeler, maybe a motorcycle or some other ATV. I get it. There's that big, open area and nobody is using it so, why not? What many fail to understand is - that big, open pasture is what feeds our livestock through the winter. Most years, we cut hay 3 times in the summer. We will be lucky to get 2 cuttings this year. Every little track or path of "your fun" takes hay away from the cows, the goats. It's always amazing that no one stops to ask if they can ride. The answer would still be "no" but maybe you'd leave with a greater understanding of why instead of assuming "we are mean"! When you allow your children to ride through pastures that don't belong to you, you are teaching them that it's ok to break the law. You are teaching them disrespect. Farmers work hard to provide for their livestock. When you see an open field, please don't trespass.

When you buy goats, make sure you know who they come from.
When you sell goats, make sure you know who they are going to.
People are notorious for buying goats and reselling them to make a profit. It is understandable that sometimes things don't work out but, like with all animals, it is your responsibility to make sure they go to a suitable home. Think of the animal first!
When you buy goats for the sole purpose of reselling them, you have no regard for the goat's life. You are selfish! When you buy bottle babies or any babies to resell, you have no regard for the stress it puts on a baby. You break up bonded herds. You spread diseases and it is not fair to the animal or the buyer! 💔
