My sweet boy and I went backcountry skiing today on the 87 acres of The Cross Farm and it was fantastic.

I had a much easier time than him. I tried out my new backcountry skis which are really impressive (he was on his skate skis). My new Fischer skis kept me on top and not cutting through so 6” was plenty. Backcountry skis have come a long way since my last pair of 30 years ago. I could not believe that I could glide around on our logging roads and hill climb with ease. The right gear is so great all of which I got from Carters XC Ski Center in Bethel including the clothing. Now I need to get him setup with backcountry skis!

For months now the Cross Farm has been accruing energy credits by producing more power than consumption via the solar array on the barn roof.

The production is so high that it covers both The Cross Farm and The Lookout at the Cross Farm.

A stay at either The Cross Farm or The Lookout is a green getaway!

This year birds decided they like to p**p on the top of the yard chairs at The Cross Farm... so I added flags (I actually drilled and glued them making them “permanent”). We now have flags from the US, Cuba, Norway, Canada, Italy, France, Ireland and England. My kids will like that choice of flags. I could add a couple more. If there is one that is special to you let me know and I will try to add it. I love that the wife of the family staying there now is from Canada.

The solar panels on The Cross Farm are now producing more electricity than the farm is consuming. A stay at The Cross Farm is a green getaway!

The new fire pit is coming along nicely. We stopped by for the first lighting with this weekend’s guests.

The start of what I am hoping will be a pretty cool fire pit at The Cross Farm.

The Lookout landscaping is coming along. Grass planted, a lot of mulch and a new fire pit.

Today we saw a bear just as we left The Cross Farm and coincidently the bear ran in front of Bear Lane. My 9 year old got to see it too, it was awesome.

Look who walked right up to The Lookout during lunch yesterday!
