From buckets to boots to chores this is what matters.

Every generation has the opportunity to build a stronger foundation than the one they were given.

Grateful for the example I had. Grateful for the opportunity to raise my kids with presence, strength, and purpose.

This patch of ground may look empty now, but soon it’ll be filled with blueberries.

We didn’t inherit land or step into something already built. We’re starting from scratch. Last fall was spent clearing land, amending soil, and putting in the hard work that goes unseen.

Step by step, row by row, we’re building it. 🫐

2026 Season Update! 🌱

Spring is getting closer, and we’ve been busy preparing for another exciting season here at Gottman Family Farms. From expanding our blueberry fields to planning fresh produce, things are starting to take shape.

We’re excited to share that we are once again an approved vendor at the Fowlerville Farmers Market, and we can’t wait to see everyone there!

And on a personal note… our family is growing too. We’ll be welcoming our newest farm hand in the next week. 💛

This farm has always been about building something meaningful for our family and our community. Thank you for supporting our dream and following along as we continue to grow, both in the fields and at home. This is only the beginning.

See you soon,
The Gottman Family 🌿 🫐

🥚 Winter Layers Going Strong! 🥚
Even in the heart of January, our hens are still working hard, we are consistently getting over two dozen fresh eggs per day, despite the cold and short days.
We’re incredibly grateful for our loyal customers who continue to support us year-round. Your encouragement and trust mean everything to us and help make what we’re building at Gottman Family Farms possible.
From our coop to your table, thank you for supporting our farm and believing in what we’re building. 🐔❤️

🐷❄️ Cold weather? The pigs said “hold my straw.”

8 degrees out tonight and our pigs are living their absolute BEST life.
Gave them a fresh load of straw and they wasted no time.

Straw = insulation, and pigs are basically expert nest builders. As long as they can burrow deep, they stay warm and cozy even in single-digit temps.

Farm rule of the night:
If you can’t find the pigs, check the straw pile… they’re probably beneath it living like royalty.

🫐 Why We Grow Elliott Blueberries and Why You Might Want To 🫐

Most blueberry varieties ripen and finish by mid-summer but Elliott is a bit of a rebel.

It’s one of the latest-ripening highbush varieties, typically producing in late August through early September. That extended season is a big deal if you're trying to spread out your harvest or keep fresh blueberries on the table longer.

Here’s why we love them:

🌱 Hardy & Reliable
Elliott tolerates Michigan winters well and handles disease pressure better than most.

🕒 Late Season Producer
Great for filling the gap between summer harvests and fall crops. Keeps the fresh fruit flowing when everyone else is done.

🍇 Big Yields
Once established, these bushes produce heavily and consistently.

💙 Tart-Sweet Flavor
They’ve got a bright, tangy bite when picked early, mellowing into a deeper sweetness the longer you leave them on the bush. Perfect for baking, freezing, or fresh eating.

⚠️ One Note on Patience
They’re known for ripening late and they won’t all come at once. That means staggered picking, but also more flexibility. In our eyes, it's worth the wait.

We grow a few varieties here, but Elliott earns its place in the lineup every season.

If you’re thinking long-term about your garden or homestead, late-season crops like this are worth their weight in gold.
