🍎πŸ₯© One skillet, 20 minutes, and a September weeknight dinner is done.

This Italian Sausage & Apple Skillet with Fresh Sage brings caramelized sausage, golden apple slices, and a simple white wine pan sauce together with fragrant fresh sage. Serve it over creamy polenta, egg noodles, or with crusty bread to soak up every last drop. Hearty enough for fall, easy enough for any night of the week.

Paired with our 2022 For Our Daughters – RosΓ© of Pinot Noir, the wine's crisp apple and wild berry notes mirror the skillet's flavors directly while its bright acidity cuts right through the richness of the sausage.

They refused to let her perform. She sang to 75,000 people from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial instead.

When the Daughters of the American Revolution barred Marian Anderson from Constitution Hall because of her race, Eleanor Roosevelt resigned from the organization in protest β€” and the response became something far greater than a concert. On Easter Sunday, 1939, one of the greatest contralto voices in history rang out from the Lincoln Memorial to a crowd that was, in that moment, briefly and powerfully united.

A quarter century before Dr. King proclaimed his dream from those same steps, Marian Anderson was already there β€” singing freedom into existence.

The most powerful thing about a trailblazer isn't just the record they set β€” it's who they reach back for.

At 14, Alena Analeigh Wicker became the youngest Black person in U.S. history to be accepted into medical school. She's also the youngest intern in NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory history. And she founded the Brown STEM Girl Foundation, which provides scholarships and international STEM experiences to girls of color β€” because she understands that her acceptance letter wasn't just personal. It was a message to every Black girl told she was too young, too different, or too unlikely to belong.

Her resume would be remarkable at 40. She's 17.

This week, we raise our glass to Alena Analeigh Wicker β€” scientist, founder, and living proof that there are no limits.

πŸ”¬πŸ₯‚ She graduated high school at 12. By 13 she was enrolled in two universities. At 14 she became the youngest Black person ever accepted into medical school.

Alena Analeigh Wicker isn't waiting for the world to be ready for her β€” she's already building the infrastructure to bring others along. Her Brown STEM Girl Foundation provides scholarships and international STEM experiences to girls of color, because she knows firsthand what it means to be the only one in the room.

She's 17. And she's just getting started.

Ready to meet the young woman rewriting what's possible for Black girls in science and medicine?

🐟🍜 Bold enough to feel exciting, easy enough for a Tuesday β€” this seared tuna delivers both.

This Seared Tuna with Sesame Noodle Salad & Ginger Dressing brings a sesame-crusted, perfectly seared ahi tuna over a bright noodle salad with cucumber, edamame, and a tangy ginger dressing. The noodle salad requires zero cooking and can be made ahead β€” making this one of the most impressive 25-minute dinners in the summer rotation.

Paired with our 2022 The Sons We Bear – Pinot Gris, the wine's crisp acidity complements the delicate tuna while its clean fruit character holds its own against the ginger dressing without competing. Want to know why Pinot Gris is the perfect match for Asian-inspired fish dishes?

πŸ†πŸ₯‚ She won Hollywood's highest honor β€” then walked to the stage from a segregated table at the back of the room.

On February 29, 1940, Hattie McDaniel became the first Black woman to win an Oscar. She wasn't allowed at the film's premiere. She needed special permission just to enter the whites-only hotel where the ceremony was held. Hollywood celebrated her achievement while enforcing the very racism her achievement was meant to transcend.

Her story resists easy conclusions β€” and that's exactly why it deserves to be told in full.

🎡πŸ₯‚ She doesn't just make music β€” she builds worlds where Black people are centered, celebrated and FREE.

Janelle MonΓ‘e arrived with a creative framework β€” Afrofuturism β€” that used science fiction and speculative storytelling to reimagine Black identity outside the limits of a racist present.

Her album Dirty Computer became a cultural watershed, celebrating Black womanhood, sexuality, and radical self-acceptance while challenging surveillance and systemic oppression. On screen, she brought quiet power to Hidden Figures and other consistently chosen projects that challenge audiences to confront uncomfortable truths.

Her art and her activism have always been the same thing. Explore the full story of one of the most fearless creative voices of her generation:
