🍗 Fat Boy Food Review: Cracker Barrel's Southern Fried Chicken in Lynchburg, VA🍗

⭐ 7/10

This meal had me thinking I was about to experience a Southern revival.

The fried chicken came out looking absolutely legendary. Crispy, golden, and seasoned just right. The mac & cheese was creamy, the hash brown casserole never misses, and those biscuits were warm enough to make you start saying "y'all."

Then the plot thickened...

One piece of the chicken was undercooked and slimy. That's a pretty big fumble when fried chicken is the main event. Thankfully, the staff didn't argue or hesitate. They apologized, replaced it quickly, and made sure everything was right.

Because of how they handled it, I'm not writing this place off.

The food had the potential to be a 9/10, but the undercooked chicken drops it to a 7/10. Great sides, great service, one unfortunate piece of chicken.

Would I go back? Absolutely. Would I inspect every piece of chicken like I'm the FDA? Also absolutely. 😂🍗

Sam's On 40 is also one of the few places to have 24 Oz drinks! They're definitely worth the stop.

⭐ 7/10

When this thing came out, I thought I was about to have a outer body experience. Two burger patties, cheese, bacon, and an egg? I was ready to cancel my afternoon plans and dedicate my day to this burger.

Then I took a bite...

This burger was drier than the group chat after someone asks for volunteers. 😂

The bacon was good, the egg showed up and did its best, and the cheese was putting in overtime trying to save the day. But the burger itself needed a lifeguard. I found myself taking a sip after every bite like I was eating a Popeyes biscuit in the middle of the Sahara.

Flavor? Good. Moisture? Somewhere on vacation.

Final Verdict: 7/10.

I'd definitely eat it again... but next time I'm ordering extra sauce and a large drink with a side of IV fluids.

🍴 Fat Boy Food Review: Cracker Barrel Campfire Beef Bake 🔥

When the waitress sat this thing down in front of me wrapped in aluminum foil, I wasn’t sure if I ordered dinner or if Cracker Barrel was helping me hide a body.

I peeled it open and was greeted by beef, potatoes, carrots, corn on the cob, and cherry tomatoes floating around like they owned the place. And honestly? The cherry tomatoes backed up all that confidence. They were fantastic.

The beef was tender enough that my teeth basically clocked out early. The potatoes and carrots did their job. The corn was corn, which is about the highest compliment you can give corn.

Then there were the biscuits.

Now, I’m not saying the biscuits were good enough to make me slap somebody, but if a biscuit had asked me for my Social Security number, I’d have at least considered it.

The only thing holding this meal back was the seasoning. It tasted like somebody at Cracker Barrel whispered “salt” from another room and called it good.

⭐ Fat Boy Score: 8.5/10

Pros:
✅ Tender beef
✅ Great portion size
✅ Cherry tomatoes came out of nowhere and became MVP
✅ Biscuits remain undefeated

Cons:
❌ Seasoning was apparently on vacation

Final Verdict: This meal filled me up, made me happy, and briefly convinced me I could survive in the wilderness as long as Cracker Barrel was catering it. Add a little more seasoning and we’re talking serious Fat Boy Hall of Fame material. 🍴🔥😂🐷
