I honestly think sunflowers are beautiful in every stage. The bloom is just the icing on the cake. I will miss my daily field checks as we head into Fall, but my daily tasks just change, not go away. Let’s flip this field!

Last year we trialed tulips. This year, we’re ready to grow! 🌷

But first, our sunflower season has to come to an end. It’s time to clear the field, prep the beds and get ready for tulip planting.

This Sunday wraps up our Fall Porch season at Oak & Elm Farm, and we’re making the last one a little extra special.

📸 Bring your photographer OR take your own photos.

No photographer? Bring your phone, I’ll bring the Tripod and capture your own family photos, couples photos or simply a beautiful fall memory at the farm.

Our historic barn porch is covered, so your time at the farm doesn’t have to depend on the weather.

🌻 AND THE SUNFLOWERS ARE STILL BLOOMING!
Everyone who books a Fall Porch session Sunday will have the opportunity to visit the flower field and cut sunflowers for just $1 per stem.

Come take your fall photos, wander over to the flowers and take a little piece of Oak & Elm home with you. 🤎

I homeschool my Grand and we have been together since Preschool. She is in 2nd grade this year and this was a new poem for her today.

Dig a hole; plop in a seed, keep it wet and w**d, w**d, w**d. God sends rain. God sends sun. Thank you God for garden fun. Kelsea has done all of those things on the farm and planted the seeds for the flowers in this photo!

We recently planted over 40 dwarf hollie’s in the island on our lane. They are the perfect solution for boxwood blight in our area and now you will have a beautiful drive to The Barns and the Wildflower Field! Fall landscaping is underway here on the farm. 🍁🍂

🌻 WILDFLOWER WEDNESDAY

Did you know what looks like one sunflower is actually made up of hundreds, sometimes thousands, of tiny individual flowers?

Those little flowers in the center are called disk florets, while the petals around the outside are ray florets.

So when you take home one of our sunflowers, you’re technically taking home a whole lot of tiny flowers in one beautiful bloom. 🤍

Our sunflower season won’t last much longer, and we’re soaking up every bit of it before the field begins its next chapter.

Around here, there is always something growing.
