Crews remained on scene overnight and conducted burnout operations to secure a portion of the fire by tying it into nearby roads and other geographic features. The fire is estimated at approximately 2,500ā3,000 acres and continues to exhibit active fire behavior.
More accurate mapping of the fire perimeter is expected to be completed over the next few hours using aviation resources, which will provide a better estimate of the current fire size and extent. Firefighters and dozer operators continue working to establish line around portions of the fire perimeter.
Additional resources have been ordered and are en route to assist with suppression efforts.

š„New Fire Start: Windmill Fireš„
At approximately 2:40pm the Windmill Fire was reported burning in grass, juniper and timber roughly 8 miles north of Reed Point, Montana in Stillwater County. The fire is estimated to be at 800-1,000 acres and is burning around a windmill site, adding complexity to suppression efforts and firefighter operations in the area. The windmills have been turned off. Strong winds are contributing to active fire behavior, with multiple heads of the fire observed. Fire crews are assessing, working to establish control lines, and monitoring the fire closely as conditions continue to change. Federal, state, and county resources are responding or already on scene including several overhead resources, 20 engines, 5 tenders, 2 dozers, 3 graders, 2 Helicopters, 3 Large Air Tankers, and 1 Very Large Air Tanker.
