We have 5 bulls consigned to Manhattan Commission Company special cow sales this coming Wednesday. They are all age advantaged 18 month olds, semen tested, virashield vaccine, 2 strains of pinkeye vaccine, footrot vaccinated and hot wire broke. 3 of them are heifer bulls and 2 are cow bulls. Ill put the reg papers in the comments. All but 1 are AI sired. They will be at the barn Tuesday afternoon and if anyone has any questions they can feel free to reach out prior to the sale. 4 of the 5 happen to be standing together yesterday morning so I got a quick video of them in their usual environment.

We want to send out a big "Thank you!" to everyone who bought bulls from us Sunday. Its always nice to catch up with old customers and getting to meet new customers. Soon we start preparing for next year's sale by weaning these fall calves. There are some really nice bull calves that will make nice age advantaged bulls for our sale next March.

If you end up needing a bull or have one who fails his semen check, we have some really nice bulls still for sale.

Have had some visitors who have braved the miserably muddy roads in our area to check out the bulls. These are some of the yearlings that have been standing out but dont have anyone on them at the base price. If you spot something that interest you please reach out as we do quite a bit of extra videos/pictures for potential customers. Taking bids until this coming Sunday evening.

We have heard from several people who have recieved the sale catalog. Ive also had the pleasure of showing the bulls to a few people last weekend. If your in the market for a bull or just want to look, please reach out and I will be happy to show them. They have done quite a bit of growing the last 30 days.

Brooke did get a link put on our website under the "Bull Sale" link that has the current price, bidder, scrotal circumference and weight when we semen checked them on 2/16. Since that is available we are going to put names on bulls and take bids until the evening March 8th, instead of waiting till that evening to do the actual bidding. I hope that this makes our already convenient sale format even easier as customers can look and see bid amounts or which bulls are avaliable still at the base price. The catalog and videos are also on there.

Started getting our first round of calves from our cleanup bulls the last few days with 7 of them joining the herd today. Pictures are of a few of our AI calves from 3 weeks ago. Hope calving is going good for those who are!

Brooke has the sale catalog off to the printers and they'll be hitting the mail before long. If you haven't received one in the past or are in the market for a bull this spring, please reach out and we will get one to you.

A couple thoughts as I have watched several bull sales this week and see what bulls are bringing. It seems nearly impossible to buy a good bull at an auction for under $10,000 so far this spring. That being said, we have our base price on our yearling bulls at $6,000 and our 18 month olds at $7,000. The majority of our bulls are sold at the base price, which is great for us and, considering price trends so far this year, equally advantageous for our customers.

"You must have cheap bulls that aren't very good if I don't need to spend $20K on one!" Wrong. The way we do our sale, catalog, pictures, etc. allows us to offer "quality genetics at a reasonable price!" We don't pay a big marketing outfit to make big fancy ads or make sure all our bulls, professionally clipped and fitted, look exactly the same in every picture. We don't pay a world champ auctioneer to run our sale or pay a big fancy sale facility to host it. What we DO pay for is the best genetics that we can access for our AI and ET work to continually improve the quality of our replacement females and bulls for our customers.

Our goal continues to be quality genetics at a reasonable price. Feel free to contact us with any questions!

One of our simmental first calf heifers and her 3 day old calf. The heifer is sired by Copperhead and is just one of several we have out of him. Really pleased with them.

We got some pictures of the bulls before the cold set in. Brooke is putting together the catalog and everything is in motion for our bull sale. We are going to attempt to have a link on our website where customers can "view only" an excel sheet with the bulls ID # and the initals of current high bidder and amount on the bull. Our customers would still need to call/text if they want to bid so we can "edit" the sheet. It would just be an option so bids could be viewed at any time and would eliminate the calls/texts inquiring where the bulls are at on price. --->IF

We are off and running with our 2026 calves. This first bunch of heifers are having AI calves by "Duff Crackerjack" who's also pictured. So far the weather has been great and the young ladies are doing a great job. Our cows will start having their AI calves in a couple weeks and then things will be hectic. Thankful for a wet summer that led to big grass in the calving pastures where the cows are. Lilah and I spent the weekend getting pics/videos of the bulls (not a fun way to spend the weekend!) and Brooke has started pulling epds for the sale catalog. Looking forward to showing the bulls we have to offer.

Here is a really nice set (54 head in 4 lots) of spring calving heifers if anyone is shopping for some. I ai bred them to Select Sires "Amsterdam" bull. I have calved 2 sets of heifers now of ours that were bred to him and the calves come easy and have lots of vigor. They were cleaned up with some of our bulls that do not lack in the epd department (see attached). The type are hard to come by and in high demand. On top of that you cant do business with better people, Clayton and Amy are top notch neighbors and long time family friends. If you have any question give him a call ( # is in the ad) or myself.

We are planning to have our 5th annual bull sale this coming March. As of now we are planning on doing it in the same fashion of a private treaty bid-off with the bidding taking place on the evening of the second Sunday of March (8th). For now it seems to be serving us and our customers well, I enjoy getting to show the bulls in their environment, visit with potential buyers and its low stress and relaxed for everyone whether 2 legged or 4.

We have had several inquiries about a couple topics in particular; one being the base price on bulls and two being our SimAngus and Simmental bulls. The price will be somewhat based off the price of 3-700 lb steers at local sale barns again and will be comparable to last year. Its our goal to price the bulls where they are reasonably priced for customers but profitable enough we can do it again next year. Our simmental portion of our herd has grown. We will offer several purebred and simangus bulls in the spring. Ive flushed a couple cows we were able to purchase from a couple breeders and through those cows and some we purchased we hope to continue to grow the simmental portion of our herd.

Its busy around here as we are in the middle ai/embryos transfers and situating the spring cows for winter/calving... oh and lots of 🏀 games!
