The things I do for Bianchi.

She was the smallest of small, an itty bitty May kid. She’s big and strong now but still the littlest. Others use her has a step stool to reach higher leaves. Last night she got lift and appreciated the 6ft high leaves.

A few more shots from state fair.
Helosie and Blaire were 3rd-4th in their class of April kids. Betty was second (first udder) yearling milker. Betty & Blaire were third dam-daughter. Vicki was 6th or 7th AOP however they were all Oberhasli in that class. And Hattie was fourth dry yearling.

And we decided that we’ll bring 46 goats next year so we can have the allotted five tack pens. Our one lone tack pen did not cut it.

Home.

Things people asked us at fair:

Is that a cow?
Why are they so naked?
Do they live in your house?

No.
Um, I just don’t know.
And no.

All are happy to be home.

Hattie says, “Double premiums? What’s that?”
We had a lot of 3-4th placings yesterday. Everyone did quite well. Vicki ate some ribbons. And yes, Hattie, as progeny of AI, gets double.

Iowa State Fair 4H show was a success.

Helosie and Blaire received purples as jr kids.

Hattie won her dry yearling class and now apparently loves wasabi flavored edamame more than life itself. Betty was second milking yearling and the judge mentioned that she’d be his pick for first udder. They both also received purples.

Vicki received a blue in a competitive AOP class.

And to wrap up the day, Weston won Reserve Champion Intermediate Showman.

Most importantly: we had fun!

What started as an exercise regimen for Teal, and then turned into leash training, has become great fun for everyone. So we’ve been going for walks in the evening with ALL the juniors (except a couple yearlings who are next to join the regime). They walk nearly a mile. First we use leads which is chaos, but they’re all getting quite good and then everyone goes off leash. They’re all so good. 😊
