She belongs to the photographer. I'm merely a handler.

We had a great weekend at the Iowa Spring Classic dairy goat show. We showed three juniors on Saturday and just one yearling milker on Sunday. Just lots going on, so we just needed to keep it simple.

It was fun to be in the rings. Highlights were showing two breeds, my girl Monarch Meadow Hattie winning her class in ring 1, and our very milky Crews Creek ARC Betty winning her class in ring 3. They looked lovely and I’m excited to watch them mature.

As always also so great so see goat friends and get to chat with new ones, too.

First goat show of summer!
We’re settled in and waiting for the junior show.

Since we knew we had time, we’ve already made a diversion to pop down to Neal Smith Wildlife Refuge to see some bison. 🦬 😊

Flo kidded on Mother’s Day with these two bright eyed kids. Buck doe twins. The buck is the black (and he is available). They are the only kids sired by Dill’s DM Black Sabbath this year. They are super cute. 🥰

Flo is looking great as well. She’s dealt with some dry skin issues for a while. I accidentally found a solution it would seem. I was treating her at the tail end of her pregnancy with calcium (sq) and CMPK (orally) because she acted like she was going off feed and she had gotten a little shaky. The treatment fixed those issues but also cleared up her dry skin. I did nothing else different but her skin cleared up perfectly—it’s weird. I don’t know if she just had an imbalance and that corrected it. And it wasn’t just that she had kids because she’s kidded before and it has not changed the condition of her skin. 🤔 I’m so pleased because she looks super lovely shiny with very minimal dry skin.

Anyway, both these cuties are on the bottle and spending some time with mom. They’re friendly and growing like weeds.

There is a new face on the farm.

She is all legs and just so so fun.

My son entered the Iowa Dairy Goat Association Share-A-Kid contest this spring and won an Oberhasli. That was his top choice breed (they could rank a couple choices). He’s so pleased and she seems to be really settling in nicely among all the crazy little Nigerians.

Her name is EZ Mark Vicki Vale. He’s looking forward to their first show. We’re excited to see where the pair of them go together.

Also, we wrapped up kidding, five kids in one day a week ago. Lots of pretty kids bopping around these days.

Pamphlet (Monarch Meadow SkyDyvPamphlet) kidded with twin bucks yesterday. All on her own, but on camera, so we have record of her literally dropping kids (standing). She made quick work of it. 💪 And she’s a perfect little mama.

They’re cute. Named Flyer and Brochure of course. They’ll be available as wethers. Both have blue eyes. One is Swiss and one chamoise. 💙💙

We’re hybrid raising this season (because… life). But it’s really important to me that kids are on a bottle. Most take it in stride and are on the lambar during the day, but Betty’s little doe kid just has been stubborn.

Finally! Tonight I got her to take and drink on her own!

Also, miss big tongue is Helosie. Pronounced h’LOZ, like saying the letters out loud with a little quite H on the front.
She’s a champ. Helen’s cute brown goat.

Betty handled triplets all by herself sometime around 3am. Two bucks and MY doe!

Our cameras have been malfunctioning the last couple days (meaning get-yo-butt-outta-bed live checks) and we had a race this morning (I needed sleep!). When I checked on her before bed, I thought we were getting quite close—but she’s been seeming close for over a week—so I also thought she’d wait until Saturday evening. Thankfully, everything went smoothly. 🙏

Kids are beautiful! 😍 🥳
