We had another heifer born this morning! All went well… until Mama laid her down next to the fence. I go back to check cows early afternoon and find her on the wrong side of the fence. This is why you keep checking your cows!

What an eventful 12 hours at the farm! I woke Michael about 2 am to tend to the destructive wild hogs in front of our house,,, woke Michael about 3 am to tend to the armadillo… woke Michael about 4 am to tend to the visible pack of coyotes behind our house. He requested I leave and go to work so he could get some sleep for his night shift tonight. Ha! So I did, lol.

Then… just after noon today…he was awake when he should have been sleeping! A newborn calf was apparently born on the tank dam earlier and rolled down to the tank, stuck in the mud and he noticed Mama pacing and buzzards waiting. He was able to pull the heifer out to dry ground (remember he has one arm in a sling from recent surgery) until I got home to help move her up to the house. I dried the mud off the heifer as much as possible. She appears to be resilient and ready for the big pasture after a day or two of observation.

Always something! Ready for what tomorrow brings!

Also… 1/4 inch of rain with more coming! (Less than an inch in the past 3 months).
