The great lakes freighter Manitowoc ran aground around 4:30 pm this afternoon, near the County Bridge, (also known as the free bridge.) Tugs attempted for a little over two hours to free the boat, (Great Lakes freighters are technically classified as ships, but are generally called boats), before suspending operation for the night. The bridge was re-opened at around 7:00 PM and according to an unidentifed representative of the freighter company, efforts to free the stuck boat are expected to resume in the morning. The story in the Grosse Ile Camera is not real detailed, but check out the photo credit!
