Buick has arrived at his new farm!!
Registered ram lamb born March 2026 from parasite resistant lines. Codon 171 RR. Grass fed. Weaned and ready to go to a new farm. Sired by Jefferson - Jefferson had 1/2 brothers (same sire) in the Virginia Tech Southwest AREC Ram Test (SWAREC) in 2025 and a previous same breeding in 2024 and all did well. SWAREC tests for parasite resistance, growth rate and other qualities against 130+ other ram lambs entered. SWAREC is a three month live test where same age ram lambs are kept on the same site. Virginia Tech does f***l counts, weights, and Famacha tests during this period. Only the top rams are sold at auction after the test.
Katahdin sheep are known for being an easy-care, low-maintenance breed. Unlike wool breeds, they naturally shed their coats, much like dogs and cats, eliminating the need for shearing. They are hardy, adaptable sheep that tolerate heat better than wool breeds. Katahdins are also known for having strong parasite resistance and fewer hoof problems. On top of all that, they produce delicious meat with a milder, less gamey flavor than traditional wool breeds.
