Who’s carrying the Lightweight over the standard PM2?

The Native 5 50th Anniversary Sprint Run takes one of Spyderco’s most recognizable American-made folders and dresses it up in a way we almost never see from them.

The handles use polished amber bone, but the real centerpiece is the mosaic Damascus bolsters. Ed Schempp and his son Martin spent more than 1,200 hours over roughly a year producing the Damascus, creating a checkerboard pattern with tiny Spyderco bug logos forged right into the steel.

Add a brightly polished 2.98” CPM S90V blade, full stainless liners with decorative filework, a polished clip, and a solid African Padauk presentation box, and this is about as far from a standard Native 5 as you can get while still unmistakably being one.

It even took home Investor/Collector Knife of the Year at BLADE Show 2026.

Collector piece, or are you actually carrying this one?

Fresh Spartan Blades just landed at REC.

We just added a new batch of Spartan-Harsey Folders to the case, with a mix of sizes, finishes, and some of the more detailed graphic builds Spartan is known for.

The SHF has become one of those folders that can go a couple different directions. You can keep it clean and straightforward, or go into the engraved and collector-focused versions without losing the big, solid Harsey platform underneath.

If you’ve been waiting on a specific Spartan build, it’s worth taking another look because the lineup just changed quite a bit.

New Spartan Blades are available now at River’s Edge Cutlery.

Remember the Badlands Hex Dirac from the other day?

Well, it’s got some competition now. 🏜️

We just added the Sand Dune Camo Signature Series Dirac, and side by side these two couldn’t look much more different.

Badlands Hex with the bronzed Apocalyptic blade, or Sand Dune Camo with the full desert treatment.

Same compact Dirac platform. Completely different look.

Which finish are you taking?

Both are available now at River’s Edge Cutlery.

New to REC: FOX Knives.

New to us, definitely not new to knives.

FOX has been making knives in Maniago, Italy since 1977, and we just brought in a pretty good spread of their lineup to River’s Edge Cutlery.

The one I wanted to start with is the Gabi EDC.

FOX took the DNA of its larger Predator and trimmed it down into a lighter everyday folder. The Gabi has a 3.07” blade, Crossbar Lock, reversible clip, and weighs just 2.29 oz. These Dark Matter handles look especially good in person.

And then there’s the steel: Niolox.

If that name isn’t familiar, it’s a German stainless steel from Lohmann that uses both niobium and vanadium in its chemistry. It was developed to give a useful mix of corrosion resistance and wear resistance without simply chasing the highest edge-retention number possible.

So if you’ve never spent much time with FOX Knives, this is a good place to start.

FOX Knives are available now at River’s Edge Cutlery.

Who here already has some experience with FOX, and what model should people know about?

This might be the first Adamas we’d feel a little bad beating up.

The full-size Benchmade Adamas has spent 15 years building a reputation as one of Benchmade’s big, unapologetic hard-use folders. Now Benchmade has given that platform a pretty serious upgrade.

Marbled carbon fiber scales.
CPM-MagnaCut.
Stonewashed blade.
Manual AXIS Lock.
And that unmistakable Shane Sibert Adamas design.

What I like about this version is that they didn’t try to turn the Adamas into something else. It’s still a big, substantial Adamas, it’s just Benchmade just gave it materials you normally expect to see on a much more refined EDC.

And the marbled carbon fiber is way better in person. Every bit of light catches the pattern differently, and it gives an otherwise very utilitarian knife a completely different look.

Benchmade calls this the next evolution of the full-size platform, and this is actually the first time the full-size Adamas has received the marbled carbon fiber + MagnaCut configuration previously seen on the Mini.

So now the important question:

Are you beating on this one like an Adamas should be used… or did Benchmade finally make an Adamas that’s too pretty for that? 😂

New to REC — Defiant 7

We’re excited to welcome Defiant 7 to River’s Edge Cutlery.

Defiant 7 brings together Les George and Chad Nichols, two names with a lot of experience behind them. George has more than 25 years of knifemaking experience and spent over a decade serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, while Nichols is the owner and founder of Nichols Damascus and has built his career around creating and machining high-end Damascus and modern materials.

Their idea for Defiant 7 was pretty straightforward: work alongside a small group of accomplished knifemakers and designers to build a lineup of knives they genuinely wanted to make.

That lineup includes designs from people like Les George, Tom Krein, and Matt Martin of Vehement Knives, giving the brand a pretty wide range of influences — from compact EDC fixed blades to larger service and field-oriented designs.

There’s another part of Defiant 7 that we really like, too. Les and Chad are actively investing in the next generation of American knifemaking, bringing young machinists into the shop, teaching them the craft, and working toward bringing more of the manufacturing process in-house in Mississippi.

Good designers, American manufacturing, and knives that are actually meant to be used — that made Defiant 7 a pretty easy brand for us to get excited about.

And today we have them at REC. Take a look at the lineup we have for this first round, it includes some incredible designs from some legendary names in the industry. We are excited to have the opportunity to offer Defiant7 to you!

A couple of these quietly showed up at REC today.

This is the Dead Reckon Ridgeback in Gulf Carbon Fiber, and the first thing that got me was how good that carbon looks when the light moves across it.

Then you start flipping it.

The Ridgeback uses a manual button lock with dual sealed precision bearings, and the action is every bit as good as it looks. Add a 3.4” dark stonewashed MagnaCut reverse tanto, full carbon fiber handle, and a weight under 3 ounces, and this one gets pretty interesting pretty fast.

Dead Reckon also designs, manufactures, and assembles their knives right here in Grove City, Ohio, which is a pretty cool connection for us.

We’ve only got a couple available now at River’s Edge Cutlery.

That Gulf carbon fiber though… 👀

AUX MFG customs hit REC today at 12PM ET.

Michael Jarvis sent us a really fun batch this time, and there’s a lot to dig through.

We’ve got Tsume, Pocket Bowie, Model 1, Mini Tanto, KTK Mini, Wildcard, Runt XL, Karl Jr., plus the full spread of Pocket Lints.

If you haven’t handled a Pocket Lint before, they’re exactly the kind of tiny fixed blade AUX does really well. Small enough to disappear in a pocket, but still built with the same attention to handle shape, grind work, and carry that Michael puts into the bigger customs.

The rest of the batch covers a pretty wide range too, from tiny EDC fixed blades all the way up to the larger stuff, with different handle materials, colors, wraps, and finishes throughout.

This is the handmade side of AUX MFG, with each knife coming out of Michael’s shop and ready to carry with a Kydex sheath.

AUX MFG customs go live TODAY at 12PM ET at River’s Edge Cutlery.

So what are you checking first: Pocket Lint or one of the bigger builds?
