Warmer weather on the farm means new life everywhere you look 🌾🐣✨
Baby cows kicking up their heels in the pasture, fluffy little chicks and ducks growing by the day, and the whole farm waking back up again. Between foraging for wild plants with healing and medicinal purposes, making homemade lilac syrup, ramp oil, and rhubarb syrup, stocking the pantry with canned relishes, and getting the garden ready for another growing season… life has been full in the sweetest way.🌼🌸🌻

🌿✨ RAMP SEASON ✨🌿

One of the best signs of spring in the woods is when ramps start popping up!🌱

Ramps are wild onions/leeks native to eastern North America and are loved for their bold garlicky-onion flavor and those beautiful bright green leaves. They have such a fresh earthy smell that instantly reminds you that warmer days are finally here .These little plants are SO versatile in the kitchen and can elevate almost any meal. You can chop them into eggs, potatoes, pasta dishes, soups, compound butter, breads, dips, grilled meats, salad dressings, and so much more. The leaves are tender, flavorful, and packed with spring goodness.

So far we’ve made ramp pesto, ramp hummus, and ramp infused oil with the delicious bright green leaves... and the smell alone while making them was incredible! That fresh oniony aroma fills the whole kitchen in the best way possible. Every recipe has turned out rich, vibrant, and full of flavor straight from the earth. 🌱

There’s something so rewarding about foraging seasonal foods and turning them into homemade staples to enjoy and share 💛

Wow Hello Everybody!!
sorry it’s been awhile since We have posted. Life gets crazy busy with all these animals and so many things to forage and harvest in the spring! we have we been busy busy as bees this spring and summer!! here are some photos, of the things we are learning or things we are doing right now. This year we required a couple new skills. We learned to make sourdough bread this year, (steep learning curve for me)and it’s not quite mastered yet. We learned to make fruit wines, it’s been fun learning. Rhubarb wine first and maybe Dandelion next, then some peach maybe!
we had four new baby calves born this spring, one litter of thirteen piglets and another litter on the way, we have expanded our gardens and will have lots of fresh vegetables for sale along with our own sweet corn this year!
we have grown some really great garlic and are excited about how great this years garlic looks growing! we will be pulling it up and drying the bulbs in July, So please come see us for fresh farm grown garlic in august!! we are gardening and weeding in the evenings when it’s cooler. Soon we begin harvesting local fruits to make all the fruit jams and jellies. First to duttons for strawberries, black raspberries, and red raspberries, and then onto green moutain orchards for the rest of the fruit! currants, peaches, plums and apples and fabulous cider I use in my apple cider jelly. After we are done jammin’ then we are off to use the lovely all american pressure canner we were gifted. We are so excited for this new adventure into pressure canning this summer. Wish me luck!
We are also bottle feeding a young red angus calf on the lawn at the farm as her mama cow did not mother her or feed her, we started feeding her by hand. Stormy is her name and she will come running if you have a warm milk bottle.
we also saw three piglets from Spottie’s litter that were not getting enough milk fast enough, so we took three weak smaller ones and began hand feeding so now three little piglets in the living room 🤭 They are thriving!! and loud. 🤪
We are having more meat processed this week so more great Angus beef and Heritage pork will be here soon!
please come visit the farm and hold a baby pig or maybe pet a baby cow. You can feed the ducks some snacks or feed our mini pig Brownie a treat, she loves berries. The horses( Melody & Tennyson) are rescues and they love apple slices, and just some pats and a visit. They have been buggy horses before retiring to relax at our farm and live out their life here. Both horses live attention.
You can even grab stuff for dinner while you visit. angus beef, heritage pork, pesto, hummus, jams and jellies, pickles and sometimes candy.
We love to share the farm and the land with everyone . It’s a beautiful place.. come say Hi ! we both look forward to meeting you!

Hi there everyone!
What’s with all the rain huh? All the extra time opened up a few days to learn how to make sourdough bread! I think I finally understand it, we did have lots of practice loaves the chickens enjoyed very much. haha!
Wow! it’s a wet begining to the summer, gardens is being planted my b later than usual, but the soil just warmed nicely and dried out a bit, we are super busy but wanted to quickly say hello!
we have a baby cow that was refused by her mom and we are bottle feeding, she was born during the last snow this year. so she’s named Stormy. Come visit her at the farm, she’s very sweet.
We are making some hay as weather permits and planting and then planting more… lol Big gardens this year!
We will be having some goat hikes in the fall. Goats do not enjoy really hot weather so we hope it will be a good fun fall activity for everyone to enjoy!
summer will be busy processing the gardens as they begin to produce lovely produce.
We also had a littler of baby piglets born a few days ago and they are all thriving and growing very fast! They are so cute!
so come by the farm to say hello and meet all the animals. we love folks to visit. we gave angus beef, heritage pork and other farm goods for sale.
