Lots of new things are starting to roll in! We’ve started harvesting yellow gypsy peppers, shish*to peppers, pickling cucumbers

and of course... tomatoes! You may have already spotted a few cherry tomato varieties at mkt, but this week we started harvesting our first heirlooms and early girls!

We’ve hit triple digits at 102°F! While it’s been a hot week for the crew, our summer crops are loving the heat. Watermelons are starting to ripen, and we may be harvesting our first ones before the end of the month!

Sunflower season has come to an end. The remaining blooms are starting to fall apart with even the slightest breeze, so we’re saying goodbye for now…. we’ve still got zinnias, with marigolds coming next!

Farm Notes: Apricot and plum season is officially over... well at least for us! We now have Dapple Dandy pluots and Adriatic figs starting to come in! We only have a few of these trees, so quantities are limited. While they won’t be making their way into CSA boxes, you’ll be able to find them at the farmers market & our farm store while they last. Figs might make a one-time appearance in the CSA box, but no promises! 😉

Summer squash continues to go strong! Harvest timing is super important right about now because squash grows incredibly fast if you leave it on the plant too long. We’re currently harvesting every other day to keep them at the perfect size.

Like I mentioned earlier, June was all about transplanting. We planted the last row of jalapeño peppers today and are wrapping up the final watermelon transplants. We’ve also started seeding again, though we’ve hit a small delay as we’re currently out of cabbage seed. In the meantime, we’re keeping busy by seeding lettuce until everything arrives.

This week was also heavily focused on tying up tomatoes. As the plants get taller and begin setting fruit, they become heavy and start leaning over. Tying them up helps keep the plants upright, improves airflow, and makes harvesting much easier. If you’re wondering what that looks like, be sure to stay tuned!
