Hello friends! ๐ซถ๐ฝ
Iโve noticed quite a few new faces around here lately, so I figured it was time to reintroduce myself. And if youโve been here since the beginning, thank you for sticking around and being part of this journey. ๐ค
My name is Selena, which is where the โSelโ in Selโs Sweets comes from! A lot of my close friends and family have always called me Sel, so I figured adding it to my business name would make it a little more personal and feel more like me.
Iโm a 26-year-old business owner and last year I graduated with a degree in Business Marketing and Management Technology. Even as a kid, I knew I wanted to own a business someday because, in my mind, being my own boss sounded like the best thing ever.
Fast forward to nowโฆ although Iโm incredibly grateful to be living that dream, letโs just say it seemed a whole lot easier when I was imagining it as a kid. If youโre a business owner, you know!
When I first started this business, it was a safe outlet for me. I was able to create, bake, and have something that was completely mine. There was a point where I stepped away from it for a while because my life had drastically changed.
In 2023, I went through a life-changing experience that completely shifted my perspective. I remember telling myself, โI can either put my all into this now, or I can keep waiting for the โright time.โโ
That same day, I started working on my website. I started looking for photographers to take professional photos, researching markets, joining community groups, and figuring out what I could do to actually turn this little idea into something bigger.
And since thenโฆ I havenโt stopped.
I started Selโs Sweets while also working a full-time job. I would work all day, come home, and then work some more. There were definitely plenty of late nights, long days, and moments where I wondered how I was going to keep up with everything.
But little by little, the business continued to grow.
And now, Iโm incredibly grateful to say that Iโm able to work full-time from home baking, designing, creating, and running Selโs Sweets. Iโve even expanded beyond the bakery and recently added a gift shop, which has been such a fun new chapter for me.
There is still SO much I want to do with Selโs Sweets, and Iโm excited to see where this journey takes me.
