Here’s a “hump day” highlight for you as we continue to bring the Poss Power to the Brangus Breed…

We believe the Brangus momma cow is the unrivaled, cream-of-the-crop when it comes to sustainable progeny production in the beef business, but we couldn’t help ourselves to do something a little different with the Poss Project when we saw Poss BlueBlood 1501. The $100,000 donor daughter out of Connealy Clarity is elite in nearly every way and we just knew she would be the perfect fit for us to make our first new UltraBlack cow family.

So, we flushed her to some new genetics (MC SHO TIME 313H30) and some old (DMR EMPIRE 795D12) and we think the results will speak for themselves. In fact, Trey Kirkpatrick saw them a couple weeks back and thought they were the best calves in the pasture. We will be posting their “Glamour Shots” soon, but for now enjoy the factory that produced them and help us welcome the 1501 cow family to the Brangus breed!

Brangus and Ultrablack cattle to meet the needs of the range, the ring and the rail

09/01/2026

What started as an innocent idea, turned into an intentional initiative and now has become known the past couple years at the Wild M as the "Poss Project". The need and desire for some new genetics, coupled with the increased popularity and demand for UltraBlack cattle sent us on a search and goal of bringing a new generation of UB1 cattle the likes of which the Brangus breed has never seen.

Therefore, we purchased two of the best, proven Brangus donors of the past 5 years, the great 468C10 cow from Cavender Ranches - Registered Brangus Cattle (responsible for multiple herd sires and over $200,000 in progeny) and the renown 23F4 from T3 Brangus (nearly $300,000 in progeny sales) as the foundation and epitome of what Brangus females are all about. From there our journey took us to Scotia, Nebraska to find some bull power at Poss Angus. Breed leading genetics, maternal strength, red meat and real-world production made the decision rather easy to combine some of the best sires in the Angus breed with the best females Brangus has to offer.

So when our first heifer in the "Poss Project" hit the ground in 2023, it was no surprise that she was REALLY good and the quality hasn't slowed down since. While we are still in the early stages, the returns have already been very rewarding and everything we could hope for....from yearling heifers to cows in production to bulls on feed and already an elite herd sire in our very own WMB TUGGY 468M, these cattle are hitting the mark in every way!

We are so excited and trust our efforts will be well received by Brangus, Angus and UltraBlack breeders of all shapes and sizes. So we invite you to follow along, watch for more updates and information, ask us questions and join us in the journey as we BRING THE POSS POWER TO THE BRANGUS BREED!

ELITE phenotype…ELITE EPD’s…ELITE in the pasture this spring…we believe he is ELITE on every level!

“BOONE” was our $40,000 pick at the Mound Creek sale this spring where he stood out in a set of really outstanding bulls. One glance at his pedigree and you see where his great numbers and great look come from. His huge hip and rib, clean underline, sound feet and ideal frame packed with muscle made him a conversation starter and sale day favorite for many breeders. BOONE handled his natural service duties this spring with flying colors and we look forward to sharing some ELITE calves with everyone in 2027!!!
