While we understand why many would rush to harvest ahead of the rain, at Meena Farms we made a different choice.
Even with strong color showing in the field and the looming threat of a rain showers, we chose to wait. Why? Because true California cherries aren’t just about color, they’re about exceptional flavor.
We’re committed to meeting and exceeding the industry’s 16 brix “sugar level” standard to deliver the sweet, premium eating experience our customers deserve. By holding off, we’re allowing our cherries to fully develop that rich, true California quality, the kind you can taste in every bite.
It’s also important for all California cherry buyers to be aware of the industry-wide gentleman’s agreement among California packers: to not market or sell cherries that don’t meet this minimum standard. This commitment protects the integrity of our industry and ensures consumers experience the best our state has to offer.
