Just an FYI, everyone on the farm has tested positive for Covid. I initially tested negative Saturday, fortunately. Everyone is doing fine, we'll just be at the farm isolating.

Peas are coming along! Typically, I start all my peas in cell packs in February and plant out in March. Those peas are over 2ft tall and are just starting to bloom.

I also direct-sowed some peas in April this year to see if I could extend my harvest later into the season.

Starting peas indoors gives a huge jump to the growing season, but is a lot more work. Not only does is require all the work that goes with transplanting, they also are less cold hardy and need frost protection almost through April.

See you tomorrow morning at the Market House!

Planting snap peas today! I start some of my peas early in cell packs to get a jump on the season. I haven't had luck direct sowing peas this early, the soil is still too cold. Transplanted peas do just fine, though. I'll direct sow more peas in April when there is a warm spell.
