Like Almond flavor? Try adding a little Almond paste mixed into your Sour Dough bread on the next baking day! This is the filling. Bake as you usually would.

unsalted butter, about 1/4 cup
granulated sugar, about 1/3 cup
1 large egg yolk
almond extract, about 2 teaspoons
salt, about 1/4 teaspoon
almond flour, about 3/4 cup
And last about 2T of flour.

Ginger simmering...When you have a left over length of ginger, dont let it go to waste. It can be steeped into a tea, a scrub... or ginger ale drink. Use everything and dont let any bit go to waste. Even stale bread can be useful as bread crumbs!

My sweet allowance for the day... Lemon biscotti... and my coffee. I add ground Tumeric to the coffee in with the grounds and a few turns of the pepper mill. The peprin helps the body absorb the compound from the tumeric in the body. Havent heard of the benefits yet? Have a scroll thru some of my posts and check it out.

Herbs for thought! The benefits of dandelion root are enormous! Better think twice about that "w**d"... So much good stuff grows not just in our gardens but all thru the yard... I know of people more toxic!

Spinach Bread and Cinn Pear hand pies from home canned fruit!

Making pie?.... If you have to cut butter into chunks to make pie crust, spread out some flour on the counter. Youll need to do this anyway while rolling out at the end unless you use a pie cloth.... I get my dough mixing bowl and add a little flour in there too. I cut the butter sticks length wise and then across making little chunks. Having the flour on the counter I swirl around the butter chunks so they get coated in flour and it prevents sticking together and ensures better dispersing into the mix. Then I toss into the bowl Ill be mixing everything together in that also has a little bit of flour, and swirl again. Then I add my measurement of flour, water etc

What do you do when you are snowed in with a major storm beginning? Clean the Kitchen, cook and Bake of course.

Ive seen some pretty filthy kitchens in peoples homes over the years. Food dribbles, built up grease, splatter running down cabinets and some unbelievable situations. Hey! No judging... but, take this downtime to give your home a good look and see if there is a scrubbing need. Its always a good thing.

In a kitchen which will be feeding your family over the months it never hurts to be clean. Replace your sponge, run your kitchen cleaning brushes thru the dishwasher to sanitize... there is a whole litany of things to improve the cleanliness.
