Who’s ready for Halloween?? 🎃 or just fall in general really 🙃

We spend yesterday morning harvesting our pumpkins out of the patch. We are welcoming the cooler weather and the end of the harvest for summer crops.

How are you celebrating the arrival of autumn? We’d love to hear in the comments! 🍃🍁🍂

Cotton harvest has officially commenced...

This guy has seen his fair share of cotton crops over the past 50+ years he has been farming. We have quite a few long days and nights ahead of us to get the fields cleared here at Norris & Sons, LLC. Definitely thankful for heated equipment cabs with Old Man Winter trying to make his appearance early!

Talk about a scary realization; we’re already in November when yesterday seemed like January...Anyway, here’s a picture of Stetson being a good boy. Sure is a ruff life for a farm dog!

Cotton harvest is coming...

Seriously, it’s right around the corner...The cotton is making the fields look like they’re covered in snow! I guess Mother Nature didn’t get the memo that it’s November because she’s out here hitting us with close to 80 degree temps 🙃

Who else is ready for some cooler weather?? 🙋🏼‍♀️

Hey everyone! My name is A'Lora and I’m one of the faces running around here at Norris & Sons. I also run this page for the farm which, as you can tell by the lack of recent posts, I may have forgotten about for the last six-ish months (but who’s counting right??)

We got our pumpkins picked earlier this month, just started on our last cutting of alfalfa, and are gearing up for cotton harvest just around the corner. It’s been a busy fall season so far, but this cooler weather is certainly a nice change!

What is everyone dressing up as for Halloween?? Let me know below! 🎃👻

While we unfortunately are not any closer to finding out who set our cotton on fire, we are on to baling the first cutting of alfalfa for the season! You definitely can’t beat these views 🌾 Hope everyone has a blessed Sunday!

Hey everyone, we need your help! We got a call around 9:00pm last night that some of our cotton was on fire. We ended up losing 41 bales to the fire after it was contained.

The Chaves County Sheriff's Office is currently conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire. While we'd like to say this was isolated event, this was the third major incident to happen during the past week. Earlier last week someone sliced the wrapping on seven of our cotton bales, then a few days later someone attempted to steal our forklift. With all of this happening, we are fairly certain the fire was set intentionally.

We are currently working alongside the Chaves County Sheriff's Office to get to the bottom of this. We are offering a reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person/persons responsible for the fire, as well as the bale slicing and attempted theft of the forklift. We are asking anyone with any information to contact the Chaves County Sheriff's Office at 575-624-6500. We also ask that you share this post; we hope by having more people see it, we might be able to get this resolved quickly.

A huge thank you to the Hagerman and District 8 Fire departments for containing the fire, as well as the Hagerman Police Department and Chaves County Sheriff for responding so swiftly and helping further the investigation. Thank you to everyone for your calls, texts, and messages of support! We will keep you updated as we learn more.

We're getting closer to finishing this year's cotton harvest! And can I just comment on how the weather can't seem to make its mind up? Past few days have been around 75 degrees and today we're holding steady at 42 degrees...but it's the perfect excuse to put those toasty Carhartt jackets to use! :) What are some of the things y'all look forward to once colder weather rolls in? Let us know in the comments!

Today is National Farmers Day and we want to give a shout out to these two wonderful people! Mom and Dad work day in and day out to keep Norris & Sons running smoothly. It's not an easy job, but these two stick together and make it seem effortless. Norris & Sons wouldn't be what it is without you!

Headed out to the patch to continue the yearly tradition of picking the pumpkins dad grew this year. We have at least one more cutting of alfalfa this season, but we are starting to gear up for the cotton harvest. The leaves are changing, the air is cooler...Fall has officially hit Norris & Sons!
