🌻🦋 One of our goals here at the farm has always been to create a place where pollinators and native wildlife can thrive.
When we first started this journey, we knew we wanted to do more than simply grow crops. We wanted to restore the land, plant native flowers and habitat, and create a little more space for the bees, butterflies, birds, frogs, and all the other creatures that play such an important role in a healthy ecosystem.
And slowly but surely… we’re seeing progress. 🐝🦋🐦🌿
Every wildflower we plant, every area we leave a little less “perfect,” and every habitat we create is another small step toward bringing life back to the farm.
It’s incredibly rewarding to walk around and see more pollinators buzzing from flower to flower and native wildlife making themselves at home. These little signs remind us that what we’re doing is working. ❤️
We’re still a work in progress, but that’s part of the beauty of farming—and of restoring the land.
Grow food. Grow flowers. Grow habitat. Grow life. 🌱
And apparently, the wildlife is starting to give us a pretty good review. 😉

Sunset
🌫️ There’s something about a foggy morning…
This morning, everything felt a little quieter.

My mind has been running at full speed lately, and sometimes it feels like there are a thousand things demanding my attention at once. But walking through the fog with Rem this morning, something shifted.

No noise. No rushing. Just the quiet crunch of our steps, the green of the grass, the elegance of the trees disappearing into the fog, and that peaceful stillness that makes you stop and just be. 🌿🐾

For a few minutes, I wasn't thinking about the next task. I was simply appreciating where I was.

And then… reality called. 😂

Now it's time to get back "on" — another grant proposal to submit, the orchard to mow, and hopefully some sunflowers to harvest. 🌻🚜

But tonight, I get to slow down again with wonderful friends, good conversation, and hopefully another one of those fabulous WTF sunsets. 🌅

Maybe that's the lesson today:

We don't always need to stop everything to find a moment of peace. Sometimes we just need to notice the moment we're already in. ❤️

🌱 Have You Tried Patty Pan Squash? 🌱
Those little scalloped, UFO-shaped squash are one of our favorite summer garden surprises! 🛸💚
Fun fact: Patty pan squash is actually a type of summer squash—and it can be harvested while young and tender, so you don't have to wait for it to get big!
And there are SO many ways to enjoy it:
🔥 Grill it — slice, season with olive oil, salt & pepper, and toss it on the grill.
🍳 Sauté it — cook with garlic, onions, and your favorite fresh herbs.
🧀 Roast it — add Parmesan or your favorite cheese for a delicious side dish.
🥘 Stuff it — scoop out the center and fill with meat, grains, vegetables, or cheese.
🍝 Add it to pasta — sauté with tomatoes, garlic, and fresh basil.
🥒 Pickle it — because around here, if it can be pickled, we're probably going to try it! 😂
And don't be afraid of the funny shape—that's half the fun!

🌻☀️ From a joyous day in the sunflowers to clouds and storms… Mother Nature sure knows how to keep us on our toes! ⛈️
Unfortunately, today's storms have resulted in the cancellation of the Sharpsburg Farmers Market. While we completely understand that safety has to come first for our visitors and fellow vendors, these repeated Sunday storms do have a real impact on small farms like ours. Missing a market day means missing an important source of revenue during our growing season.
But we're not letting the weather stop us from getting our harvest into your hands! 🌱❤️

And here's the fun part… pickups will be in the sunflower field! 🌻

We won't have standard operating hours for pickups, so just leave us a message with your order and we'll coordinate a time for you to come to the farm.

🐔🌱 Apparently, my chickens decided to become gardeners! 😂
My girls have successfully grown some of their own food this year, and I am honestly amazed at how well these plants have thrived!
What started inside their fenced area has grown right through the fence and expanded beyond it. 🌿🌱
I guess when you have chickens, you get a little bit of farming, gardening, and landscaping all in one! 😂
Now if only they could figure out how to harvest it for themselves… 🐔🥬
