for a healthy, natural alternative. Kyle and Jamie Merrick are members of AKKPS (American KuneKune Pig Association). Jamie is also a licensed exotic animal breeder under the Missouri Conservation Department.

🚨 Friendly Farm PSA: Do NOT buy incubators. 🚨

I don’t usually make posts like this, but after this being the THIRD hatch their incubators have ruined, I’m beyond frustrated.

I’ve spent a lot of money on their products because I believed they would help my hatching program, but instead they’ve been nothing but disappointment. Yet again, the incubator failed during lockdown—the most critical part of incubation—and it cost me so many babies. 😭😭😭

What’s even more frustrating is trying to get help. Customer service has been incredibly difficult to deal with, and getting issues resolved feels nearly impossible.

As a breeder and small farm, every egg matters. Every baby matters. Time, money, hope, and countless hours go into each hatch. Watching another hatch fail because equipment broke is absolutely heartbreaking.

I rarely tell people what not to buy, but after three separate hatches being affected, I can’t in good conscience recommend these incubators to anyone.

My heart hurts for the poults, chicks, and quail babies that never got a chance because of equipment failure. 💔

Back to the drawing board, I guess. We’ll dust ourselves off, keep moving forward, and trust God with the rest. ❤️

Can I be a little honest for a minute? ❤️

It’s honestly a little discouraging when I’m simply sharing animals I love—whether they’re here on my farm or animals that came from my flock—and someone feels the need to critique, correct, or pick apart every single post.

I’m not trying to be the best of the best. I’m not claiming to know everything. I’m just a girl who loves animals with her whole heart, works incredibly hard on her farm, and enjoys sharing that joy with others. ❤️

At the end of the day, all I ever try to do is encourage people, build them up, root them on, share a little joy, and hopefully make someone smile along the way. That’s always been my heart.

This page is a glimpse into the life I love—the victories, the lessons, the beautiful animals, the funny moments, and everything in between.

🦃❤️ My Sweetgrass Turkey Flock ❤️🦃

I’m incredibly grateful for a flock that produces birds like these. ❤️

The turkeys pictured here are from last year’s hatch season, either hatched here on the farm or from eggs produced by my flock. Looking at them now, I’m still amazed by their beautiful penciling, rich coloring, bold barring, gorgeous fan tails, and unique personalities. No two are exactly alike, yet they all showcase the traits that make Sweetgrass turkeys so special.

This year, alongside my pure Sweetgrass line, I also added three Blue Slate hens, all bringing something beautiful to my breeding program. The poults from those pairings have been nothing short of fantastic. The variety of colors, patterns, and feather expressions has exceeded every expectation I had, and I’m excited to see how they continue to develop.

One of my favorite things about raising turkeys is seeing what each breeding season brings. Every hatch holds new possibilities, and every bird becomes its own living masterpiece.

I’m incredibly thankful for this flock, how far it’s come, and the birds it continues to produce. ❤️

And if you think this year’s birds are exciting, just wait until next year. 🔥🔥 I’ve brought in three new Sweetgrass lines, two Bluegrass lines, and a few surprises. I’m beyond excited to see what the future holds for this breeding program.

I can’t tell you how much I love receiving messages from people who are happy with their purchases from our little farm, or those who send updates on animals they’ve brought home. 😭❤️

It’s always hard for me to ask for reviews because I never want to feel like I’m nagging anyone, but they truly do help small farms like ours grow. I’m also the person who checks on animals after they leave here, which means I’m usually sending messages every so often just to see how everyone is doing. Sometimes I feel like a Stage 4 clinger. 😂

That’s why it means so much when customers reach out on their own with updates, pictures, kind words, or reviews. Whether you’ve purchased from us, shared our page, left a recommendation, prayed for us, encouraged us, or simply supported our farm in any way, please know how grateful I am.

I haven’t had piglets in over two years, yet I still receive updates on some of them, and I absolutely love it. Knowing they’re still loved, spoiled, and bringing joy to their families all these years later is such a blessing.

One of my favorite parts of what we do is seeing the joy these animals bring to others. Seeing the smiles on people’s faces, watching families fall in love with their new additions, and even seeing the husbands who weren’t quite sold on the idea of bringing home “just one more critter” end up loving them too, always makes me smile. 😂❤️

Watching these animals thrive in their new homes and knowing they’re loved is one of the greatest blessings of raising them. It’s something I never take for granted.

Marb is one of my Sweetgrass Blue Slate crosses, and whew… this boy is something else. 💙🦃

The older he gets, the prettier he becomes. I love his soft silver-blue coloring, all that marbling, and the little hints of Sweetgrass popping through. Every day he seems to add another layer of detail.

He’s also convinced he’s the most handsome thing on the farm… and honestly, he might not be wrong. 😂

Pretty sure he has a little crush on me too, because wherever I go, there he is. My little feathered shadow. 💙

Watching these babies grow from awkward poults into gorgeous birds never gets old. Every one is unique, and Marb is definitely making a strong case for being one of my favorites. ❤️

Ruby Red and Beanie We**ie are the best of friends and true soulmates. ❤️🐷

Where one goes, the other isn’t far behind. They graze together, nap together, root around together, and have spent countless days side by side.

Ruby is definitely the more outspoken one in the relationship. She likes things her way and isn’t afraid to let Beanie know it. 😂❤️ But Beanie, being blind and deaf, experiences the world a little differently. When Ruby starts pestering him too much, he doesn’t stay quiet about it—he makes sure everyone knows exactly how he feels.

Even with their differences, their bond is something special. It’s a reminder that friendship isn’t about being the same. It’s about loyalty, companionship, and choosing to stay by each other’s side through every season of life.

These two have my whole heart. ❤️🐷

I never realized how beautiful pansies were until now. 💛🌼

Maybe it’s because I’ve slowed down a little, or maybe it’s because God keeps opening my eyes to the beauty He’s tucked into the smallest places. Either way, this little flower stopped me in my tracks today.

Look at the details—the bright yellow petals, the delicate markings, and the little face that almost looks like it’s smiling. It’s amazing how something so simple can bring so much joy.

I love how God has a way of making us smile when we least expect it. Sometimes it’s through a beautiful sunset, a kind word from a friend, a silly animal on the farm, or even a tiny flower blooming in a planter.

Today, this pansy was my reminder that there is still beauty all around us if we take a moment to notice it. 💛

So now I want to ask you…

Spike the bearded dragon got a little upgrade for daytime adventures because apparently living in the reptile room wasn’t enough. 🙄😂

Lately he’s been giving my chicks and turkey poults a little too much attention, and since I prefer my feathered babies not to become snacks, Spike got moved outdoors for a bit. ☀️🦎

His enclosure still needs some work, but for something I threw together in an afternoon, I’m pretty proud of it! A few climbing spots, some plants, sunshine, fresh air, and plenty of room for him to patrol his kingdom.

Meanwhile, Spike has spent the day judging my craftsmanship, soaking up the sunshine, and acting like he personally pays the property taxes around here. 😂

I’d say he approves. ❤️🦎
