Kyle is originally from the city, and Jamie is from the country. Somehow, these two came together and found their joy in bringing people closer to animals. From that day forward, three Children and many—I mean many—animals later, Merrick Farmstead was born with the intent to bring people closer to animals and bring joy to their hearts. We also provide farm-fresh eggs, meats, and soon-to-be produce

for a healthy, natural alternative. Kyle and Jamie Merrick are members of AKKPS (American KuneKune Pig Association). Jamie is also a licensed exotic animal breeder under the Missouri Conservation Department.

🦃A Little Info about Merrick Farmstead LLC Sweetgrass Turkey line🦃

One thing I absolutely love about raising heritage-style Sweetgrass Turkeys, is the BEAUTIFUL diversity in coloring, patterning, and personalities within the flock. No two birds are exactly alike, and that’s part of what makes them so special here on our farm. ❤️

Our Sweetgrass flock includes a wide range of expressions and color influence. Our toms include Fall Fire, heavily penciled, and semi-penciled birds with rich chocolate and auburn undertones. Our hens range from cream and lightly penciled to heavily penciled, chocolate-toned, silver-influenced, and darker bronze-toned variations.

Because of that diversity, our pure Sweetgrass poults may hatch in shades of:
🤍 Light Yellow & Cream
🤎 Tan, Chestnut & Auburn
🖤 Heavily Penciled & Chipmunk-Patterned
✨ Soft blended heritage tones and patterns

We also have three beautiful Blue Slate Turkey hens in the breeding pen, so some poults are Sweetgrass Blue Slate crosses. Those babies can hatch in gorgeous smoky blues, brownish-blue tones, penciled blues, and black/yellow patterns, with many dark poults developing even more penciling and detail as they grow. 💙🖤

That variety is something I truly cherish. I’m not trying to create cookie-cutter birds — I love the rich heritage beauty, natural variation, and stunning surprises each hatch brings. 🦃❤️

👉 2 Pure Sweetgrass poults!
These babies come from my diverse Sweetgrass flock with multiple color influences and beautiful pattern variations throughout the group. My breeders range from lighter cream-based birds to heavily penciled and laced birds, along with richer chocolate, auburn/fall-fire tones and darker patterned influence.

Because of that, my pure Sweetgrass poults can mature into a wide range of gorgeous color outcomes — from soft creams and golds to richer warm tones with penciling, lacing, smoky shading, and deeper contrast as they feather out. One of my favorite things about Sweetgrass turkeys is the variety, uniqueness, and personality they can have while still being such stunning heritage birds ❤️

👉 2 Sweetgrass x Blue Slate poultsThese are the darker blackish-brown/yellow babies from my Sweetgrass over Blue Slate crosses. These crosses can produce some really unique coloring and patterns as they mature, often developing smoky slate, chocolate, silver, or richly blended feather tones. The darker babies especially tend to pencil out more as they grow and feather in, creating beautiful depth and patterning in their coloring 🙌🖤🤎💛

Just a little encouragement this morning for the farmers, small businesses, creators, mamas, workers, and dreamers still going long after the sun goes down and rising before it comes back up again ❤️

To the ones feeding animals in the dark, cleaning barns, packing orders, planting seeds, answering messages late at night, praying over bills, caring for families, and still showing up every single day… what you are doing MATTERS.

Animals are such a gift from God, but they also remind us of something important… all living things need care, nurturing, patience, gentleness, and love. Truthfully, people do too.

So if nobody has told you lately:

I can NOT express how grateful I am for those who support our small farm ❤️

Whether you share our posts, give us shout-outs, pray for us, encourage us, or purchase our farm goods… thank you. Truly.

There’s something so special about seeing the babies we raise bring joy to other families, or knowing the eggs from our farm are helping feed families around us. It’s a blessing I never want to take for granted.

This little farm may be small, but it is filled with so much love, hard work, lessons, and gratitude 💙

Celebrating a few wins this week ❤️🙌

1️⃣ Beautiful, healthy baby ducklings either went — or are going — to their new homes 🦆❤️❤️

2️⃣ Had a wonderful turkey hatch with around a 90% hatch rate (maybe a little less 😅) on my turkey eggs 🙌🦃 These are some of the prettiest babies I’ve ever seen! So many gorgeous colors 🤎💙🖤🤍❗All turkey poults SOLD❗

3️⃣ Successfully seeded and grew plants for my mom, my sister, and myself 🙌🌱 Yay!!! We didn’t have to buy a single plant… well, besides a few indoor plants 😂🪴

4️⃣ I finally have a peony bloom …. Not for long😒the wild bunnies seem to love it. 

5️⃣ My handsome Black NZ buck found a wonderful new home 🖤 where he'll be a proud Daddy!

All Glory to God, because without Him, how lost I would be 🎶❤️

Sometimes it’s the little victories that mean the most… the small reminders that God is still moving, still providing, and still blessing in the middle of everyday ❤️
