🎃 Our 2026 Pumpkin Patch Has Been Planted 🌻

This year, we rotated our pumpkin patch to a new field. Before planting, we had a little extra work to do—the ground was pretty bumpy, so we worked it up and leveled it out first. We even rigged up a section of chain-link fence to drag behind the disc, and it worked surprisingly well!

Once the field was ready, we fired up our two-row planter and put about 3,500 pumpkin seeds in the ground, along with some sunflower seeds to add a little extra beauty to the patch. 🌻

Since we grow several different pumpkin varieties with varying seed sizes, it's actually quicker for us to hand-drop the seeds into the planter rather than stop and recalibrate it for each variety. Farming may involve some modern equipment, but sometimes old-fashioned methods are still the most efficient!

We also got a little creative with some "high-tech" row markers—aka tree limbs mounted on the front of the tractor—to help keep our row spacing nice and consistent. 🚜

Now we wait for some sunshine, a little rain, and a lot of growing. We can't wait to watch this year's pumpkin patch take shape! 🚜 🎃 🌻

🌧️ Happy Monday! ☀️

We kicked off June with some much-needed rain — arriving just in time to give our garden and flower field a good watering!

We hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather this past weekend. We were blessed to spend time with some amazing friends who came out to lend a hand on the farm, soak up a little country life, enjoy some delicious food, and share plenty of good conversations and laughs. Farm life is always better with good company! 🥰

🌱 Farm Updates:

🪴 All plants in our Self-Serve Farmstand are now just $1 each! Stop by and pick up some great additions for your garden while supplies last.

🍑 Peach Update: We have a small percentage of peach trees holding onto fruit this year. After the spring freezes, we're grateful to see any peaches at all and are hopeful we'll have enough to offer some in the Farmstand later this summer!

🌻 You-Pick Flower Field: The field is planted and includes several new flower varieties this year! We're also adding some vegetables for picking, along with strips of wildflowers & sunflowers around the flower field to create even more beautiful walking space for everyone to enjoy.

🎃 Pumpkin Patch: The field is worked up and ready to go. We're waiting for things to dry out after this rain so we can get the tractor back in for planting pumpkins.

🚜 There are lots of exciting things growing and taking shape here on the Webster Farm. The equipment breakdowns, unexpected challenges, and endless to-do lists are all part of the journey—and seeing everything come to life, plus our amazing customers, makes it worthwhile.

🇺🇸 Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who fought for our freedom and made the ultimate sacrifice. We are forever grateful for their courage and service. ❤️🤍💙

⚠️ Please use caution when parking/walking: Ameren is currently replacing power poles and lines behind our Farmstand and has created some ruts in the parking area. They’re hoping to be finished within the next couple weeks, but we just couldn’t wait any longer to open the stand for the season!

We hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend! We’re beyond grateful for both of our loving and supportive Moms and all they do for our family and farm. ❤️

As for the farm, we’re running a little behind this spring between day jobs, caring for farm animals, and just life in general, but we wanted to share a few updates:

🍑 Unfortunately, with the deep negative temperatures this winter and 11° temps hitting in March while our peach trees already had swollen buds and some blooms, we have lost pretty much our entire peach crop for the season. A few trees still have some peaches hanging on, so if Mother Nature cooperates, we may have a limited amount available at our Farmstand later this summer — but it’s still too early to know for sure.

🌱 Our vegetable plants are currently outside hardening off and we’re planning to have them available at our Self-Serve Farmstand by Sunday (5/17)! We’ll have several tomato varieties, sweet & hot peppers, okra, eggplant, and brussels sprouts. Seed packets and some flower plants may be available a little later as well!

💐 Our You-Pick Flower Field will be returning this year! We already have several flowers started, lots of seeds ready to direct sow, and the field is freshly worked up and ready to plant. We’re excited to watch it all come to life again!

🎃 And yes — pumpkins will be back this fall too!

Getting these seedlings ready for the real world... 🌱

Before they ever make it to the garden, they go through a little “farm toughening” process. A gentle fan to build strong stems. Rotating trays so they grow evenly. And yes… a little hand brushing (or “petting”) to help them learn to handle movement and wind.

After growing under indoor lights, we slowly introduce them to fresh air, natural sunlight, and outdoor conditions. It’s all part of hardening them off so they don’t just survive — they thrive.

Every strong plant starts with a little extra care. Soon these babies will be ready for the garden & flower field, turning into vibrant flowers and fresh vegetables. 🌼🥕🌿

👉🏻 We're a little behind on garden plants this year, but hope to have them out in our Self-Serve Farmstand in a couple weeks! 🌱 🏠 (tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, brussels sprouts, okra, coleus, and more.... Not as many plants will be available as last year, but all will still be single plant for mix and match buying).

Big shoutout to Tim's Complete Detail & Paint Correction for getting our new-to-us tractor cleaned up and protected with a ceramic coating! Tim is a super nice guy, a hard worker, and his attention to detail is top-notch. He truly made our tractor look brand new again!

We’re excited to keep up yearly details with Tim to help this tractor last us a lifetime! Tim is in high demand and booking pretty far out, but we highly recommend him for all your detail needs!

These little chicks are living their best farm life. ☀️🐥

They’re starting to enjoy time outdoors, soaking up all the sunshine they can, and discovering the magic of dust baths. After a full day of pecking, exploring, and tiny farm adventures… it’s lights out for some serious chick snoozing.

Fresh air, warm sun, and a whole lot of farm joy — doesn’t get much better than that.

Who needs brush hogs when you’ve got hair sheep? 🐑🌳

These rams are hard at work tackling honeysuckle — an invasive that is taking over our understory around here. Lucky for us, the sheep think it’s a gourmet snack.
