Honey cabinet is stocked with Summer and Fall Honey 🍯

It's a beautiful day to leaf 🍁 🍂 peep, buy pumpkins and winter squashes from local farm stands (ours aren't for sale).

Busy Saturday with the bees! Fall flow is happening. However, this honey season has been much less than any other year for us. We have just as many hives, but the frost/freeze in late April really set the bees back.

Hoping for a great fall honey harvest in the weeks to come.

Well, unfortunately one of our hives did not successfully re-queen 👑

When this happens one of the worker bees thinks she can sustain the hive by laying eggs. The worker is able to lay eggs, however they're all unfertilized, meaning that all of these eggs will grow up into male bees (drones). Which this does not help the hive survive. The drones job is is mate with a virgin queen. Other than that, he doesn't help with honey, foraging, taking care of the babies.

One of the huge signs that we knew this was a "laying worker" was due to having multiple eggs in a cell. Also, some of the eggs are stuck on the side of the cell because the worker isn't long enough to reach the bottom of the cell.

We have 2026 Spring Honey 🍯 stocked in our self serve cabinet. We've been busy as bees here 🐝 extracting, and we have more bottling to do.

This light yellow 💛 honey is foraged from dandelions, apple blossoms, honeysuckle, bass wood, locust and other early spring blooms. It's light and sweet with floral and fruity undertones. 🌷

This year has been a little difficult due to the late frost/freezing temperatures we experienced in the spring. It made harvesting the spring honey much later than usual.

Spring honey 🍯 is never in stock long so make sure to pick up a bottle today.

New Queen 👑 has emerged and is laying so many eggs!

Over the past couple weeks we have been splitting our larger hives trying to prevent them from swarming. So far so good 👍🏼
