Meet Briar! Our new best girl and future bird dog! We have been waiting on her seven months and we couldn’t be more pleased with her! Thanks to Yellow Town Chesapeakes for this sweetie! We loved our first chessie “Gus” we got 10 years ago so we got him a little girl to train up!

Got swarmed by bees today… check that one off the ranch bucket list. 🐝😅

Not sure if they were Africanized, but they came out of nowhere and chased me long enough to get my attention.

I’m fine—it honestly wasn’t as bad as I’d built it up to be.

Final score:
🐝 Me: 10–15 stings
🐝 Seydi: 2 stings
🐴 Chex & Sioux: a couple each

Everyone’s okay, and the horses acted like absolute angels. True ranch horses.

Best quote of the day? After it was over, Seydi said, “Where’s .dekay when we need him to handle these bees?” 😂

Rain on the ranch. Green grass. Healthy cattle. A little water back in the creek. There’s just something about making the evening rounds that fills your cup.

The to-do list can wait for a few minutes… I’m going to soak this in. Grateful for this place and the blessing of calling it home. ✨

Before all the internet horse trainers come for us… 😅

This isn’t a daily routine or “overhandling” a foal. It was a completely unplanned moment that I happened to catch while I was working with another horse.

Seydi noticed Dusty was unsure about a plastic water bottle, so she quietly took her time, letting her investigate it at her own pace until she realized it wasn’t scary. No pressure. No forcing. Just curiosity, patience, and a little confidence building.

I love watching these two figure each other out. They’re pretty sweet together. 🤎
