🔥☕ **VENDOR SPOTLIGHT: FIRE DEPARTMENT COFFEE** ☕🔥

At 99 Line Ranch Trading Co., we want the brands we carry to stand for something—and Fire Department Coffee certainly does.

Fire Department Coffee is a veteran-owned company run by active and retired firefighters. Its coffee is freshly roasted in Rockford, Illinois, and 10% of the company’s net proceeds supports injured and ill first responders.

That commitment to hardworking people and the first-responder community made Fire Department Coffee a natural fit for 99 Line Ranch.

Stop in, grab a cup and enjoy coffee with a purpose.

❄️ **DOES FREEZER BURN MEAN FOOD IS UNSAFE?**

Not necessarily.

Freezer burn is generally a **quality issue**, not a food-safety issue. It happens when frozen food is exposed to air, causing dry, discolored or leathery areas.

Help prevent it by:

• Using airtight freezer bags or containers
• Removing excess air before sealing
• Wrapping food securely
• Labeling packages with the contents and date
• Keeping your freezer at 0°F

Properly frozen food can remain safe, although its flavor and texture may decline over time.

☀️ **DON’T LET SUMMER HEAT SPOIL YOUR GROCERIES**

Perishable groceries should be refrigerated within **two hours** of purchasing them—or within **one hour** when the outside temperature is above 90°F.

A few helpful habits:

• Pick up refrigerated and frozen foods near the end of your shopping trip
• Go directly home after buying perishables
• Carry an insulated cooler or cold packs when traveling farther
• Don’t leave milk, eggs, meat or frozen products sitting in a hot vehicle

On a Kansas summer day, the inside of a parked vehicle heats up quickly. Plan ahead and keep your cold food cold.

🥚 **ARE YOU STORING YOUR EGGS IN THE RIGHT PLACE?**

Egg holders built into refrigerator doors may look convenient, but the door isn’t the best place to keep eggs.

USDA guidance recommends:

• Keeping eggs refrigerated in their original carton
• Placing them on a shelf in the main refrigerator compartment
• Avoiding the refrigerator door, where temperatures fluctuate more often
• Not washing commercially washed retail eggs again at home

The carton also helps protect the eggs and keeps them from absorbing odors from other foods.
