*Short story* half of this yummy PITA is still available....
*Long story* It been just over 3 years (July 3, 2021) since we started with our first boar Hoss (George). A few weeks after bringing him home we got 1 sow, 1 gilt and a few feeders from Colleen at That Little farm in the country in Illinois.
September of 2021 we brought home another boar (Archie/ Triton boar ), another gilt , and another feeder from a farm in Wisconsin. That feeder we not so lovingly called stupid. Lol we were more than happy to get him butchered. We've had a breeding pair shipped in from Washington. We've gotten 2 gilts from Pete in Fort Wayne. We also got a gilt from Ohio.
We've have many litters, feeders, gilts and sows since. But really not any that we were *excited* to butcher. We've had to butcher breeding stock that I couldn't get bred. We've had favorite pigs get sick. We've lost litters. Lost mama's. It's all a learning experience and all this thing called farming.
All that to say... we've had many pigs come and go. We have our favorites. But not since that one feeder, have I had one I'm so sick of I can't wait for her to be bacon. π€£π€£ I'm trying to move her to make things more convenient for Jeff when he comes to butcher. But she's so stupid stubborn she won't get on a trailer. Is she smart?? Is she extra dumb?? I don't know... either she looks like lots of yummy bacon. π We still have half of her available lol
