Final piggies for this year are getting butchered tomorrow! (Not these specific girls. This is one of my favorite babies from this spring 😍) we won't be butchering more until next summer!

This batch will all be smaller.. meaning more affordable for you! I'm guessing whole will be around 140lbs. With 2 smaller ones (120ish??)

Lately I've been looking at meat prices in the store... thinking who can afford this?! Who can afford to feed their family anymore?! I also understand that not everyone can buy 200+lb hog. I'm trying to figure out how to help my friends and family get quality pastures raised meat.. without the junk in it.

So if you've been hoping to get better quality, better raised, but need some more options... message me!!!

*Short story* half of this yummy PITA is still available....

*Long story* It been just over 3 years (July 3, 2021) since we started with our first boar Hoss (George). A few weeks after bringing him home we got 1 sow, 1 gilt and a few feeders from Colleen at That Little farm in the country in Illinois.

September of 2021 we brought home another boar (Archie/ Triton boar ), another gilt , and another feeder from a farm in Wisconsin. That feeder we not so lovingly called stupid. Lol we were more than happy to get him butchered. We've had a breeding pair shipped in from Washington. We've gotten 2 gilts from Pete in Fort Wayne. We also got a gilt from Ohio.

We've have many litters, feeders, gilts and sows since. But really not any that we were *excited* to butcher. We've had to butcher breeding stock that I couldn't get bred. We've had favorite pigs get sick. We've lost litters. Lost mama's. It's all a learning experience and all this thing called farming.

All that to say... we've had many pigs come and go. We have our favorites. But not since that one feeder, have I had one I'm so sick of I can't wait for her to be bacon. 🀣🀣 I'm trying to move her to make things more convenient for Jeff when he comes to butcher. But she's so stupid stubborn she won't get on a trailer. Is she smart?? Is she extra dumb?? I don't know... either she looks like lots of yummy bacon. πŸ˜‹ We still have half of her available lol

The question I get more than anything is ...
how does this work?!?

So to start... we use Earls meats in Holland. They come out to us and clean on the spot. No stress. No trailering. Our pigs happily run up to the fence to say hi. Lol

Then they're transported in the cooler truck back to Earls where we get hanging weights and you place your custom cut order.

Everything is based off hanging weights. 3/lb to us. (Before you pick up your meat)
Cut and wrap, smoking, and "other fee" (I'm not sure how else to word it lol) to Earls when you pick up your order. We love getting ham steaks smoked and pork chops smoked too! With half a hog you get 1 choice sausage/Bratwurst. With a whole you get 2 choices.

Using an approximate value. If a half hog hanging is 100lbs (typically for us 100lbs would be the biggest. Usually half is about 80lbs). 300 to us. And APPROXIMATELY 128 to Earls. Depends on how many pounds smoked and any extras to your sausage. Total 428 ish. And typically 75% meat of hanging weight (the one time i actually added weights, not including the lard i got, it was 80% meat of hanging weight). So about 75lbs total. 428 Γ· 75lbs = 5.70/lb

For homegrown meat. Raised outdoors with lots of love. Our meat tends to be on the leaner side not really fatty. We can tell you what they ate. We can tell you what they didn't get (pokey pokey ;)).
We don't do organic at this point. We get our feed locally, and yes its corn/soymeal based. But we do the best we can with what we have access to financially and locally

We still have 1 whole available for Tuesday and 3 available in August!

Thank you for supporting our family and this little hobby we love so much! 🩷 Jamie and Jay

We added a date last minute and have 2 pigs getting processed next Tuesday. We can do half or whole! The 2 getting done should have hanging weights 200lbs+

We have a couple spots open for half/whole available for these guys when they go August 22 also! The pictured batch will be smaller hanging weights. 150lbs ish.

Message me for more info (Jamie)
